I am Italian and whenever I go to Spain I usually don't really need to speak English because the languages are close enough that you can go by by just knowing a handful of basic words (and the Spaniards I meet usually prefer it that wa

I guess SerenityOS is somewhat doomed now? I never saw this kind of move ending well, honestly. Even when not involved, having the original around is always a great boon to the popularity of a project. I for one would love to see the Sereni

AFAIK all editors and IDEs I've ever used can open a random file in a new tab, even if it is outside of the repository.

The IDE is literally a text editor. Why not hit file -> new file and write stuff in there?

Sadly our codebase is full of legacy nonsense - which makes modularizing it a chore to say the least.

Unreal's unity builds get very annoying as soon as your teams exceeds a handful of developers. You often have code that has builds fine on a machine but doesn't on another developer - it completely depends on what order the UBT pi

This. The obsession for object oriented in the '00s has made immense, irreparable damage to an entire generation of developers. I have to fight every day to keep our codebase sane against new entries that are still following that cargo

You usually don't need either for software development though, and if you do the free or online alternatives are often good enough for the rare occasions you need them. If you are a software developer and you have to spend significant

It's a bit unfair to compare Perl and Rust/Go, they are massively better languages with massively better tooling that fix an IMHO different problem. Perl is IMHO for glue code, text processing, and that's it. It is not for la

Vala is a lovely yet criminally underused language. It does a lot of things right IMHO, and it massively simplifies writing GLib/GObject and GTK applications. It's nice to see more awareness around it, honestly.
