Because the CDDL (by design, as inherited from the MPL 1.x) is not compatible with the GPL, due to the fact that both try to enforce their own copyleft without allowing relicensing (i.e the MPL2 avoids this thanks to a annex clause that all

Ironically, a fully encrypted Linux installation with Btrfs or ZFS on a removable drive is quite easy to make and it works really well. I've one I made on an old SSD I had lying around and a 2.5" USB-C caddy and it's wonderfu

Using a non-FAT filesystem for portable storage opens up lots of issues regarding broken permissions. Try to create a file on an ext4-formatted USB flash drive using your current user; rest assured that, unless your remembered to set its pe

Here in Italy lots of plans actually stopped offering unlimited SMS because nobody uses them anymore. I think I must have sent less than 10 SMS in the last 5 years or so.

I'm Italian and I pay ~9 euros per month for 130 GB of uncapped 4G mobile Internet, so I can't really complain about it. Some new offers I've seen are as low as 6.99 for 100 GB + infinite calls. A few days ago I told this to

I haven't reinstalled Linux in years; usually, if I want to migrate my install somewhere else I use one of the following approaches: - `rsync -qaHAXS src dest` - `btrfs/zfs send/recv` Lately I standardized around ZFS, so I&#x

Among all the feasible buyers, Oracle feels like the worst possible one. They are basically the real life version of Mr. Robot's Evil Corp, and they have a very bad record when it comes to acquisitions.

Yeah, that's a real shame. I wrote lots of Perl and while it requires a bit of experience, I almost never incurred in issues such as those we see in PHP and JS. The fact Perl is also quite strict in you specify if the variable is hash,

I think that the big mistake PHP and JS made was to loosely pick their weak typing from Perl while trying to look too much like Java. Perl has different operators for numeric and string equality, so you know that `$a == "3"` would

The fact C++ has no stable ABI is not what stops you from creating language bindings, because you need that kind of interoperability only for those symbols that need to cross the FFI. It's more about how the library is designed than t
