Programmers are not like scribes, they are like authors and writers - which are still here. Programming is a creative discipline, it's not just formatting one written format (specs) into another (code). Of course, the bad ones might make it

At my current startup[1], this is exactly what we're trying to address. We built a marketplace for open-source projects, trying to add a business layer around open-source development, so that developers could work on it full time, and provi

Worth noting this presentation was made by Hapyrus, a Hadoop specialized startup from 500startups. They know quite a bit about running Hadoop. Following the results of their tests they are now adding Redshift support to their services.

My thoughts exactly. Like you don't outsource dev, you can't outsource sysops, it's a core competency to a tech startup.

It's not standard procedure in Israel. You were scanned by local airport security personnel, and each place has its own procedures. I had to go through something similar when leaving on a direct flight from NYC to TLV - additional security

You should check the article in one of the comments in this thread - Israeli methods actually reduce security overhead. If there's anything the U.S is good at, it's logistics - I'm sure they can scale it just fine.

You should read the article in the comment below yours to understand what I mean by "profiling". I did not mean special treatment by race or religion - crazy fanatics and terrorists come in all shapes and sizes.

I recently moved to the U.S from Israel. If there's a country that knows about Airport security, it's Israel, for obvious reasons. Let me tell you this - most of the security procedures in U.S airports are pointless and ridicules. Taking of

OP here - the main point is that most indie software is underpriced, mostly because the developer fears not making sales. We have thousands of publishers on our platform, and 99% of them underprice their software. I was giving an overview o
