There's something to be said for misplaced egos, but spending half a breath indirectly reaffirming that titles are pointless in startups... is pointless.

We worked with John Carmack building out Quake Live a long time ago. It took them awhile to release their OSX port, and there was a lot of internal talk about how much game developers loathed the OSX development process because the drivers

The major reasons people frown upon the adult industry is because of exploitation or religious bias; therefore you're subject to the same scrutinization by association. You can't really get away from it. A lot of the criticism stems from th

Well, I didn't have a good experience with NVIDIA even though it's been a great brand to me when I used a PC many years ago. The NVIDIA 8800 in my Mac Pro was a miserable failure, and neither NVIDIA or Apple would RMA it even though I had o

Okay. Meanwhile, 17 bailed-out banks overpaid executives with tax payer money. If my startup failed, man it sure would be nice to get a $MM exit. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1287195... Wall Street needs to return

I use stackoverflow a lot and I'm a "designer". I find the original UI to be more utility-focused and information-rich than his interpretation. His interpretation also lacks the presence of authority, which I think the original UI does well

So you're suggesting that semantic meaning is not important? :) Most incubators explicitly state "no lifestyle businesses." I don't think it's that ludicrous since the term startup is often misunderstood, much like the concept of lean. I ag

I agree it's not the only way but it's by far the majority. More importantly though, most founders don't consider it "work" so I think that's where we have a disconnect. Startups are intense, that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. http://ww

I don't believe that DHH and Jason work less than 40 hours a week. Maybe they do now, 10 years later, but I think they've burned plenty of midnight oil that would put BP to shame. I don't understand why people who want a relaxed work enviro

It's not that people hate lifestyle businesses, it's that a lot of people inappropriately label their lifestyle businesses as "startups". For the people that have worked 70+ hours a week, took no salary, and have lived through the pain, blo

All of these developer challenges popping up remind me of something we've long loathed in the advertising industry: spec work aka contests. It's worth noting that compliancy is a billion-dollar problem, and if you help them solve it you get

Shaving with a 5-blade Mach razor is like taking 5 passes with a single blade; the analogy is akin to driving an automatic vs. standard transmission. This is why 5-blade razors save time, and why a double-edge can give you a closer shave. Y

Merkur is a great blade, but then I came across the Feathers and I think the japanese have a leg up. It's one of the sharpest blades I've used. Definitely recommend you sample a pack. http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522941/90645

I consider myself a shaving purist and moved away from multi-blade nonsense to a traditional double-edge razor about 5 years ago. It's very therapeutic, and the cost savings and quality of shave trumps modern razors at the expense of a few

iDisk is terribly slow. It doesn't hold a candle to Dropbox. We use Dropbox as a file server and repository, I don't believe iDisk is coded with that level of sophistication / performance. It just works, flawlessly.
