There's very little I like about Metro, but I do like that Microsoft is focusing on the total user experience across all its products. Perhaps they need to divide the company into 3 components — consumer (win metro / tablet / phone), enterp

If I had a penny for every security guy who thought a government was out to kill him, I'd be a rich man. Paranoid drives that industry. :) It's rare but threats happen given the data and relationships a security officer of a public firm wil

Steve Blank is one of the best, and one of those people who make me feel ashamed I don't write. Have enjoyed his writings for many years since being exposed to him on HN. Steve aside, I clicked through the StartupPlays.com site and really a

As a designer who studied typography and spent a few years working in print a long time ago, I love typecast. But practically speaking, Google Fonts has serviced most of my needs. It's free for one, and that's a pretty big deal. And two, I

I totally agree. Not only that, tools can vary depending on which industry you are shipping product in. If it has anything to do with finance or healthcare, PCI and HIPAA compliance can certainly impact what tools your security/compliance o

The video mentions they've only been working in the 3D printer world for less than a year. So now they know how to fix "all the problems" to make 3D printing available to the masses? The leadership page doesn't give me a lot of confidence i

First, this would mean the product is immediately perceived as outdated in comparison to its cousins. And for a smaller screen, why use anything less than retina? Not likely to happen. Second, the more consistency across the various product

Awesome! I love the concept and will purchase one after I move from a condo with an auto-locking door system, which i loathe! :( From a product design perspective, maybe consider a rock-solid brushed metal version.. if not purely for aset

So the iPad and iPhone are retina, but this iPad mini will not be retina? Surprised that a technology author would assume Apple would take a step backward like that.

Well technically it's 'infinitely' big. Most people's brains breakdown when you start trying to tell them about the idea of a 4th dimension that holds the universe. I think this is why humanity defaults to religion as explanation for the un

Page size was a very valid concern the last 5 years of iOS / Android, but LTE will make the issue about as minor as it is today for desktops. I'm not suggesting pagespeed isn't important, that's something completely different and impacted b
