Hm... I don't see AWS and GAE playing in the same ballpark at the moment. I'm sure AWS will continue to increase the convenience and ease-of-use of their services, and GAE will continue to increase the breadth of their services, but right n

This looks nice, but I have a small nit to pick: the expression problem concerns static type safety, so discussing it in the context of an untyped/dynamically typechecked language is a bit off.

Lisp-2's have less potential for trouble with unhygienic macros, but they still have it. Hygienic macro systems work with Lisp-1 as well as with Lisp-2. Apropos, I've written a Lisp->JS compiler a while ago; you might find some of t

I don't know. Of course it's nice if a language has an informative homepage (which Io does), but I think languages shouldn't (and probably can't) be judged at a glance. Instead of "quick stuff", I'd rather have a (possibly peer-reviewed) p

Nice idea, execution, and such. Congratulations and good luck! Two things, though: if I were a restaurant owner, the burger in your logo would probably irritate me. After all, few restaurant owners see themselves in the fast food business,

Could you please take the time to go over your title before you post, or read it after you posted it, and make sure it's grammatically correct? Thanks.

I would rather that language designers get basic stuff like lexical scope right, before they care about performance. And LLVM is effectively a huge black box, which I would caution any new language implementor against using. Sure, it may

I don't know, a new language will take you years anyway until its useful. And it's a very cool hobby, so I'm not even interested in getting it done as quickly as possible. ;) I want to make it as good as I can. And I get a warm fuzzy feeli

First, you should take the whole post with more than a grain of salt. ;) Re JavaScript, I'm referring to the lowlevel nature of many of its constructs: - its impoverished way to pass parameters (i.e. there are no keyword parameters; you don

Good question. I think that the crux is that if you're enthusiastic about PLs, you have to create your own or be enslaved by another man's. That's my feeling at least. And on the way to creating your own PL, you'll also learn to appreciate
