What about people that uses Google Apps accounts? Are they subject to this (corporate)? What about people just use those accounts personally for their own domain? Are they out?

Not everyone is like that. I personally have a build of Android with most of Google stripped out and the rest semi-disabled and it should have a minimum amount of tracking. I also don't install social networking apps, or at least deny

I don't remember where I saw this, but I believe this has to do with culture. In North America what you described is true, where as in developing countries it is not. The second person would rather just take whatever money is given and

> Facebook and Microsoft donate $US15,000 to Neel Mehta via the Internet Bug Bounty program for finding the OpenSSL bug. Hm. I didn't know that MS would be involved in this as well since they're not really affected by this.

Yeah I haven't had this problem since at least 2010. NTFS3g should be preinstalled on Ubuntu. Not sure about other distros/Mac, though.

The following is purely personal opinion. Feel free to disprove me. I think at the moment, and into the foreseeable future, a human at the pilot seat for an experimental craft, where all sorts of unexpected scenarios could pop up, would be

They definitely tested the engines on the ground[1]. You have to give the engineers the benefit of the doubt, at the very least. [1]: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:JBrl96U...

Does this mean if you compile this and get it to work, you can get something like XFCE or KDE running on it?

Again. This shows us why we need to operate HTTPS everywhere. Many software download sites delivers its software over http, and don't provide a checksum or provide one over http only. This is really unacceptable yet it is common practi

Even a blog should be served over HTTPs. There's opportunity to inject JS for a MITM attack. Greyhound wifi does this all the time. Something more interesting: if your site provides something like a code snippet, a MITM could change it

Random sidenote on this: if everyone have this mentality doesn't mean no one will look at the source? Not sure how to address this, just a random thought.

Most of the time that's because those apps were developed for Chrome (much like how they used to be developed for IE). Which brings me to another point: cross browser testing is important.

I'm in the process of migrating off of Dropbox to Seafile. The migration is slow, and also I'll probably always have to keep Dropbox a little bit to share files to some friends.

Well I got the sha256 from the debian site, which is HTTPS secured, which I assume is uncompromised because of this vulnerability, correct? Or am I missing something here?

I assume it has to be real users on facebook. The author of the article suggest uploading 1 user targetted, and then 19 real users that's in a specific group, and exclude that group... Facebook could close this loophole by saying that

Can't you also just verify the sha256 from debian's site? I wrote a script here: https://gist.github.com/shuhaowu/286e6681d6faa473ebb0

No, because your attacker could just modify that script, if there is an attacker. You can write a script yourself, and run it independently of apt, though.
