I've always wanted this as well but I haven't gotten the time to actually look into writing this. This would solve a lot of complaints I have and have heard about traditional CAD software, as they tend to constrain you with their

To add to this, another one that seems to be missing is a software CAD tool, where certain simple algorithms that you have to write can be automated based on some constraints (which itself can be turned then be into tests/proofs).

I'm not sure if it makes things better. One of the problems is the maintenance load for 10-20 year horizon. One of niche app that you dont write yourself usually don't have that kind of support timeline, especially if the data sto

It's not actually as bad as it looks as long as you're disciplined in not trying to run every new shiny services that you discover. Instead, what I do personally is to try to host the minimum number of services where each can do m

Another alternative is lxdock ( https://github.com/lxdock/lxdock ), which uses LXD directly without dependency issues. The X11 support similar to what's done on this post is in a PR that I wrote.

This is an unfortunate by product due to the way that gh-ost is implemented. It is simply not possible to run it with a FK constraint. The reason is that since it replays the binlogs on the ghost table while the ghost table is not fully pop

Hey! I'm the current maintainer of Ghostferry. Thank you for all your work! For the reader here: one thing to clarify here is that gh-ost performs schema migration via a data migration between two different tables and it does it via a

This is not true at all. First of all, there's no such thing as being able to mathematically prove a design is sound in any engineering discipline, software or non-software. After all, it is infeasible if not impossible to encapsulate

I didn't downvote this and this is a valid misunderstanding. The whole point of having GPG is that you (as the distributor/debian repo/whatever) have already somehow distributed the public key to your clients (customers/

I'm not talking about a mirror, which has a different domain name. I'm talking about a transparent cache like squid. This will mean I don't have to change the OS images that I might not even control in order to get traffic sa

What about hosting HTTP content because you verify GPG signatures upon download? These content would then be super easy to cache on the local network. HTTPS defeats this and makes it uncachable. I hardly ever see people talk about this use
