I agree, I have a hard time with it as well. However, I have noticed that if I force myself to workout a few times a week and get in a routine then I sleep better so maybe 10PM to 5AM is achievable...I just need to get back into that routin

Agreed. I wish manufactures would at least support one distro of Linux. Maybe Vizio went with hardware that is easy to support...

Another vote for Text Wrangler. I use Sublime 2 and Texmate a lot but if someone wants a free solution and not interested in Vim or Emacs then I always recommend Text Wrangler. It's from the same people that make BBedit.

Another vote for KeepassX. Use it on both Mac and Linux (and the Windows version when I need to at work.) It's a great program.

I love VLC. Just today I was playing around with the streaming feature which I had not realized was so awesome. Plus the fact that it plays anything I have asked it to. Glad to see this open source project going strong! Keep up the good wor

I agree. For those who want one account for everyone then just register all your devices. If you want everyone in your household to have separate accounts then just have different logins...

No your not. I want my stuff to sync without issues like my notes, contacts, mail but I don't want my laptop/desktop to feel like my phone. Example: Launch pad, is anyone really using this?

Wow, I didn't know it was open-source. Just looked it up and I had no idea it could read/write Word XLM, Office Open XML and OpenDocument Text either! Learn something new everyday...

But will they do away the stupid points/currency system? I have found myself using the Xbox Zune more than iTunes but hate the stupid points/currency they use. Can I just see what I am buying in dollars?!

Agreed, I use my Xbox several times a week and I think it has updated 3 times total in the last 2 years.

This is a good write up. As someone who just recently started messing with Chef I found comparison articles non-existent. Though I have already put in several weeks with Chef and will probably stick with it I think Puppet looks like a great

I'm curious about this as well. Does anyone have any experience with this? It would be interesting to hear someone's opinion since CFEngine seems to have been around for awhile.

I agree. What Chef lacks in documentation it makes up for it in community support. I have only been messing with Chef for a few weeks off and on but there is always someone to answer my questions in the IRC channel. Often it is someone from

The problem is this depends on the person/situation. I had the opposite problem. Tmobile coverage in my area was terrible and the customer service was absolutely horrible! Also, the at&t coverage in my area is great and I almost never g

I agree. I enjoy finding detailed articles like this when I come to Hacker News. Also, even though this article is old to a lot of people I have found a new blog to follow with what appears to be well written articles.

I know you meant it jokingly but I come to Hacker News to find good technical/business posts like this one. Great thing about the internet is there are many old still valuable articles out there, many of which some people have not read yet.

I agree. I actually meant to say the biggest hang up for the enterprise to switch over to Linux is finding a good replacement for Office. However, you absolutely correct about how easy it is to get a Microsoft AD up and running. Though I am

I'm a huge fan of Linux and want to see it succeed but it still has a ways to go for the enterprise desktop market. The one biggest problem is Microsoft Office. I use OpenOffice on Linux and iWorks/NeoOffice on Mac often but I still find m
