Huh, I didn't know browsers are behaving this way these days. I believe I tried this several years ago and it didn't work. Or did I just read the standard? I'm not sure. Anyway, I always assumed it wouldn't work.

That's why I said "if you could". I know it's not valid HTML. For some reason, style tags are only allowed inside the <head/>. My point was that I find it strange that HTML in general has this limit and that s

There must be some additional logic behind that, because I see this regularly behind GET requests and I'm not being unsubscribed from everything.

The story didn't end there. Vitaly Kaloyev, who killed Nielsen, went to jail for it for a few years and, after release, returned to Russia. He then became deputy minister of construction in North Ossetia, Russia.

I really like Rust and all its features, but I have a feeling that people really underestimate the importance of having a fast compiler. Being able to have a subpar compiler error sooner might still make you more productive than having good

I think it's a nice little example for "Explorable Explanations", a term coined by Bret Victor in his eponymous essay[1] from 2011. [1]: http://worrydream.com/ExplorableExplanations/

Another thing I worked on was creating interesting visualizations of those books, e.g. http://vb.uni-wuerzburg.de/ub/lskd/regal.html It was first created using Adobe Flash and then later ported to JS with WebGL&#x

I worked on this for the library of Uni Würzburg when I was a student. Pretty cool to see it on HN. We worked on high quality scans, processing Terabytes of raw image material using Akka (this was around 2012 I think) and also created pipel

One thing the article doesn't mention, but that's also interesting is that multipart is also heavily used for email. With multipart, you can send an HTML version along with a plan text version of your email. Email attachments are

It should just be a standard browser feature with a JavaScript API. Think of something similar to window.confirm() or a standard based on HTTP headers like Do Not Track. There could then just be a standard setting in the browser preferences

I've heard of this before and while this is a really cool idea, it makes for a very bad clock, because you sometimes have to wait for several seconds to tell how much time it is.

My usage went downhill, but long after the death of Google Reader. RSS didn't really die, but it never went into mainstream either.

Yeah. I think what really killed RSS was a change in people's behavior. Twitter, Reddit, and other social media sites gained traction as link sharing communities and RSS became less relevant after that. Instead of subscribing to an RSS
