This whole thread feels like I'm reading r/outside, the HN version. I like it.

That makes sense. I'm sure it gets better with some personalization, but still, let's say the navigation felt like an old version of Google Earth running on an old tablet. Very cool and definitely very pretty though.

Oh god! Hadn't heard of "meatspace" before to reference the world outside the internet. :D

When I test-drove the Model S, the screen felt like I had to use a 3 year old Android tablet to do things like volume change or AC. I didn't like it. It felt slow to me. I don't mind the non-tactile-ness of it, it just felt old an

Maybe "unknown solution" could work too, since it was an unsolved mystery, then someone solved it but didn't share the solution, so it's a secret to anyone else.

I'm not going to comment on all the issues you listed, only for the last part. I think it's a grass-is-greener thing, and you see the bad stuff for one side and the good for the other. There are banks in Europe too, that suck. I h

A very nice idea. I did one for this dcpu or something like that, from a potential game from Notch (Minecraft guy). More people should do projects like these, because many many people enjoy looking at them and studying them and contribute t

By "Konami code", do you mean lock button + volume up button? I mean I understand it is hard- er , but I wouldn't call it hard.

I'm honestly asking. It's a very good and valid comment and I didn't see any obvious reasons why they might decide to use a throwaway account.

Why did you need a throwaway for this comment?

Trying to keep a good posture so I can minimize the back pain. I find that more than any dev problem I face, if I feel uncomfortable sitting while thinking, it distracts me.

I have the exact opposite milage. I was typing my password a lot with touchID. Now I made my pass longer and I need to type it only like once every week.

I've had the opposite experience. In university and later, everytime I play with prolog, I love it. Some things make so much more sense when you write them this way, and it's not just the few very specific cases. When I learned ab

I know it's not perfect, but I have found that dropping a pin on a street with no name shown, is a pretty easy way to find out what it's called.

That is true. Now imagine how bad it can get with React Native apps. I'm struggling to keep everything contained.

I agree, and I am happy for the progress every single year. But this marketing makes me cringe every time. Can't they think of some other adjective to describe the changes for each new thing/update?

Most of these are fine replacements, but some are not, and that's the reason I, and I imagine many more people, stay with google. google maps is great. apple maps is much worse with searching, and shops etc, especially outside the US.

I do a similar thing for Chrome. It's not so much the missing minor feature, as much as the way the dev/mgmt team works. If Safari refuses to have favicons, then they might think another important thing for you is not important fo

Sure, I could make something that works. I could make a hacky icon for each. And that's what I did for my app. I could try to contribute, but it's not going to be in the style of the rest of the icons. That's the point of a c
