Running gentoo on desktop, since 2007. My first installation lasted 7 years. The next one has worked well for me since 2013. It was my first real contact with linux and taught me a lot. My setup is bargain bin components from the same 2013

Given that almost all CPUs these days are thermo-throttled, maybe a controllable Peltier element will be the next Turbo button? I remember that Peltier based cooling setups were electricity hungry.

Same system with me. Running gentoo without systemd or pulseaudio makes Flatpak and Snap totally nonstarters. I compile most of my stuff from gentoo's official repos and supplement things with select AppImages that work out of the box,

Maybe I am a bit old-fashioned but I think the commit message should convey intent and not content of the diffs. Perhaps the real utility of this is to describe existing commits in a repository.
