It's not really state if it's immutable. Not the case with node, but closures in general match the notion of parameterized functions (like f_a(x)).

I think Java can be classified as an "extremist OOP" language because it doesn't really support self-standing functions.

Same here. I'm very concerned that the new framework might reduce the extensions' capabilities down to Chrome's level. It's highly unusable -- for instance, in Chrome/Chromium they don't allow the user to manip

What's a modern editor? Newest stable version of Emacs (24.5) is from April 2015, 4 months old. The fresh Emacs 25 is cooking.

If extra buttons are so detrimental, why not hide alternative methods under a plus sign or something. Harder to discover, but if the alternative would be to take it down...

I wonder what's going to happen with the RSS feeds of tweets. They usually get everything verbatim, and if readers read from it often enough, the tweet's done.

I think Firefox + Vimperator is pretty decent by itself, it could be slightly better. * Even better extension support -- enable writing extensions in any language: expose a file system based API for a full Unix philosophy experience. uzbl h

Nice read. I could envision a Hollywood movie on this premise: Denzel Washington, our protagonist is the country's leading hacker / security expert, invited to give a talk. Only that an unknown Russian will crack him handily, stea

Agreed -- when done right, it's very secure. But pretty much all the software suffers from shortcuts one after another, ridden with bugs and backdoors. Someone will most certainly get to exploit the state of affairs before these system

Are you forgetting that two-wheelers are usually a very fuel-efficient way to travel distances? Besides, if the road markings are anything to go by, it would be terribly slippery for drivers too.

I could be considered rich in the global scale and I hardly ever carry $75 in cash. And in contrast, are the poor physically unable to carry $75 with them in Australia?

Hmm... if you get caught more seldom than every 10 travel days, it would pay to keep $75 with you and never buy a ticket. And poor people do not have an excuse to steal anymore than the rich have.

Those who don't appreciate free jazz as a genre, may still appreciate the fact that Coleman started the movement with a bang in the late 50s and gained Coltrane's deepest appreciation almost immediately. Trane saw the value in Col

The map doesn't actually show the optimal path. It is proven that "loops" (the ways crossing each other) can be straightened, and the new version will be shorter. There is one east of Alberquerque.
