Well this article is pointless - Linux development has always worked towards improving those bullet points. It's not like there's rallying _against_ better UI or less bugs. > Focus on Developers I'm assuming this is focus on _web_ devel

The resulting video is one trillion frames per second which the title is referring to. This video shows 10,000 fps video camera which seems to be on a commercially sold camera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcQ37OfknJ

I don't understand why people believe they will be immortal if the singularity ever occurs. Humans came from microbes, yet we couldn't care less about them. A super intelligent being would see us the same way.

No, pixel art is not at all about "big blocky pixels" - that's some silly 8-bit retro movement. Pixel art is about a crisp, distinctive look and intricate detail. For instance, this piece: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/29178.htm Keep

I'm nitpicking, but it's CLANG, not Clang. One's a video game swords thing, the other is a compiler.

There was a 'virus' that spread on 4chan years ago that did something like this. AFAIK when saved as a .js file and run it would post itself back 4chan to continue spreading.

I based my assumption off of a quote I heard that was along the lines of, "It is often better to write in the language of the OS when doing systems programming." My personal experience with FFIs and C bindings was extremely boring and tedio

I imagine using Go to write high-performance code or interact well with system libraries is not easier or simpler than a C++ approach, and certainly having worse results. Also, the comparison to CS/JS seems unfair as Go is not just a syntax

I'll believe it when I see it - anyone have examples of well-written Go compared side-by-side to well-written C++ to show how it is "more expressive"? Anyway, the benefit to small languages is that it's much easier to design and reason abou

I'd be more interested in comparing Haskell to one of those even stronger typed programming languages. I'm forgetting the name of them, but it would be interesting to see how much is too much.

I don't recall Windows being much more consistent, although I understand your point. And keep in mind that on Linux/Unix, text streams are the universal (and generally consistent) interface.

The term 'designer' is extremely vague and I have no idea what the author is referring to each time he uses it in the article. At first I thought he was using it as a nonsense umbrella term (similar to how words like 'scale' are used) but a

The grammar needs serious work, the writing style was strange, there were errors in the code, and it contained wrong information. I can't say that I recommend this.

What do you consider an 'expert' to be? It's one of the most ambiguously defined and useless word when used in practice.

Infinite time includes spending infinite years floating in the void of space, alone. You don't even have any rocks to perform computations. That sounds like death to me.

The design idea of "don't pay for what you don't use" seems to cause the language features/library to be wide and orthogonal instead of deep; the weight is more or less spread out. Beginners can learn in increments, which is the approach I

I generally stick to Google for programming related searches and use DDG for the rest. Hopefully DDG improves to the point where I can use it 100% of the time.

I found Colemak very easy to learn and regained most of my speed within a week. The only real problem is you have to deal with bad key-bindings, although it's worth it.
