Yes, I was referring to the fact that Moore's law is still applicable in terms of computer memory, but not microprocessors ... In any regard, I listened to talks four years ago that convincingly stated that it was no longer applicable, so i

I think this question has already been answered -- Moore's Law has been out of play (for processor speed) for some time now. Microprocessor companies are now banking on massive parallelism. One of the most promising new technologies (imo) r

The search seems fine -- but the look/logo/UI is terrible. And come on, do they really need to spam the search pages with so many conspicuous advertisements that LOOK like the search results? If they want this product to stick, they need to

The point is that you may not do it well the first time -- but by doing it you will gain experience and know how to improve to make your next go a success. You don't need to be a great (and careful) thinker -- you just need to get expertise

You should package it as an installer rather than a ZIP! Didn't get a chance to try it though.

Maybe they increased the cost of living, but they dramatically increased the quality of life ...

How do the interstate highways increase the cost of living? They would seem to make it cheaper to transport goods via road and faster to transport people between cities?

In my opinion, the goal of "smalltalk" is to find what you both have in common with each other. ("Are you a student? --Me too! Major? --Really ... I was going to go into that, but <insert joke here>") Assuming you do in fact have th

You can do a lot more than "start" with them -- they are full-featured products and (at least for Visual Studio) there are no restrictions on use for commercial products. EDIT: Perhaps the largest cost would be once your product is finished

I think that this would make for a very interesting experiment -- have two up/down arrows next to each post -- one for "I Agree/Disagree" and one for "This is Valuable/Worthless". After all, the single up/down does combine several dimension

yet ironically sketching things on napkins is what game companies do. "Let's make another FPS like <name another successful game>." Or, "let's make a sequel." etc etc

If I am debted for what I get from someone and go into bankruptcy, why would anyone care? Purists would say that I am a "taker" and not a "giver", but if I provide value to who I do give to, then why does it even matter how much I "take"?

Actually, it does seem there's a bug -- if the right-most character (left-justified) is '/', then it mistakenly prepends that character to the right-justified version.

Great essay, but I really, really wish the author had some guts and stopped missing opportunities, both online and offline. Even when she finally got some courage at the end, the result was (at best) "awkward."

Sure, it's easy to download Visual Studio Express. But it's hard for a beginner to do cool things with it. .NET has a learning curve and is boring to beginners -- and alas, most Visual Studio stuff is based on .NET. DirectX takes a lot of c
