VSCode is really frustrating lately, I debug all day long and the IDE just randomly shits a brick, or hangs, or just stalls, the vim plugin just loses its shit once in a while do ruining your undo's. MSVC was (is) by far much better ov

Vaping is worse. Wrapped in a nebulous belief that it is probably a lot safer then the leaf form, it is mighty hard to give up. Mostly because you can vape anywhere and everywhere, constantly, making your body expect dopamine 24/7.

Call them up, say you are not getting the speeds, then when the tech shows up, simply don't let him leave until you can verify a speed test at that rate. If you get a good tech they will help you, you may get a dud, in which case you s

Remove that second screen, centralize the keyboard, deck it out with tons of i/o and storage and cooling, then I may be interested. Honestly, I wish Apple would bring back the 17 inch chassis with a 5k screen and tons of i/o etc.

I have replaced every switch in my house with GE's Enbrighten series generation 2 (z-wave). I run this zwave network through home assistant and it is rock solid. Can't say the same about anything related to the cloud, this include

Of all the keyboards I own, I most often use my 103ub (55g weighted keys) purchased from elitekeyboards way back in the day.

One gotcha is powershell core has some different apis then the 'windows powershell', best to deploy core on both systems to unify the api. Also powershell has no support for automatically handling external shell commands that erro

Powershell is how I instrument cross platform CI scripting, with the power of the module concept and manifess now you can write real powerful type safe apis that can run anywhere. It has its quirks though...

I've been coding c++ for nearly 20 years, still don't know how to write a Makefile. Thanks CMake!

If you dedicate a large amount of your career on C++, you can be quite productive writing very robust performant code, and these days its getting easier and easier. I've been coding C++ since 1996, and to this day it is still a joy. I

That and destructors, maybe some constexpr evaluated stuff like C++ is doing now, and then really C would become way funner to code in.

Its a great library however 99% of its 'wow' moment can now be easily replicated with a few meta checks and can be adapted to basically any 3rd party json system.

I just managed to quit Juul's after a ~5 year binge. It costed me ~60 dollars a week or so and unlike cigarettes where you typically go outside and make a little event out of it, these little guys can be huffed anywhere, so that usuall

Yes, learning anything is always a good idea, expands the mind. I'd say the same thing about any language. Too many people just stick to one, and they act like its going to solve the worlds problems if everyone just does it their way.

Games are wholly enclosed binaries that render everything in open gl or whatever, their entire ui is written in the 3d space, so there's less layers I'd imagine.

I was the engineering manager for a time at a company who launched a competing product to dropbox (its dead now). During my time there we deployed a common c++ core that did the business logic, and we wrote the uis in Qt with Qml for the fo
