I just want to add something - using Haskell's naming conventions in C# or JS is a crime against humanity. If your function is longer than 5-6 lines and wider than 10-15 characters `xs` or `<|>` are not good names. I think you cou

The naming conventions are fine, but they're very different from C#, F# or JS - it's basically the difference between reading English text and reading formulas (i.e. compositions of weird letters and symbols).

For people that like math, sure, why not. When implementing mathematical concepts, if you squint at Haskell code you can see the original formulas, which should make it easier for people used to this way of thinking. EDIT: I'm not implying

Funny you should say that, I'm from a former communist country (so nothing Western here) and we always thought WE were filled with free-loaders, while the Western world was hard-working and disciplined... Guess the grass is always greener

If twitter isn't suited for "nuanced arguments", well then you shouldn't be using twitter in the first place! Write a blog post and only share the link (and title). It's that simple. It doesn't matter how good something sounds in your head

OT: My solution to the "creepy" part - fly the freak flag high! By utilizing a direct brain-to-mouth connection, people know exactly what I am, what I'm thinking, what excites me and why (e.g. implications on humanity for some technology).

Actually, I agree that killing someone is not the same thing as asking someone to leave, I was just alluding to "freedom of speech" and the constitution. If we're at your house, sure, of course morally I'd have to leave if you ask me to. Bu

If you're at my private property , am I free to kill you? It's the same thing, it just falls under another paragraph of the constitution (in most countries; America has exceptions where you are indeed free to do this, but this is another t

Of course it is! Either you're free to say anything or you're not free at all. There's no relativism here.

It's funny if you like that particular type of humor. I find penises funny, and I can assure you many other people do too. Maybe exactly because of the inappropriateness, I don't know. They're just now doing research of jokes and humor. O

I wonder how many women are DDoS'ing you... You are destroying their image as normal, fun and smart colleagues. Now everyone is gonna "watch out" when they meet a woman, "keep their mouth shut" and many other things that alienate said woman

Anyone in the world can tell you that Americans behave like animals. A friend of mine went to the U.S.A. and came back after he witnessed how they let a poor man die in front of the hospital because he didn't have health insurance, with ful

"Boring" would be the last thing I'd call it, but you have to admit - it's a pretty short list. It depends mostly on what I'm reading, if I'm reading a math textbook I usually do more "reflecting" than actual reading, I create small program

Eight hours for work, eight hours for reading and learning, eight hours for sleep and commute. I relax on the weekends - sleep a bit more, play some games, go out with friends, etc. I guess I'm just a boring person...

Am I the only one that thinks 90 minutes a day is horribly inadequate? Personally, I aim for something like 8 hours... Is this just because the book was written a hundred years ago and there wasn't that much to learn back then?

I'm doing the same (no TV, no radio and AdBlock), but found out this actually makes me more vulnerable in the situations where I can't escape the ads - IRL promotions, running TVs in bars, etc. I just sit there, staring at a washing machine
