This is by far the most important aspect to me with getting a message. I've only been sent around 2-4 messages with this much detail. These are the ones I actually reply to, even if I'm not interested at the moment. It's usua

This is an interesting point-of-view to me because I've lived on the east coast of the USA my entire life, roughly split between two places. Between that and the changes that come with aging, I have mixed feelings about this point that

That makes sense a lot of sense and I agree. I don't specifically have any reason to try and defend the point of the article, but it sounds kind of fun anyway. Really I think the article is taking aim at the notion that buying a home a

True. When this topic comes up in /r/personalfinance or /r/financialindependence it's usually from the point of view that an investment is purely a means to make money given some up-front. It specifically excludes t

I agree with you. I also feel the same way about people studying a "worthless" degree at a university. I think it should be much more heavily encouraged to let us develop deeper thinkers, artists, and others. We should learn to ce

Good point! I hadn't thought of it this way since it often doesn't come up as often in my experiences with front end stuff. To lay out one example as clearly as I can: suppose you had two calls to transfer with the same args. * Th

My current job also offers unlimited time off, and this is a similar approach that I took when evaluating. I basically wrote it off as break-even with my last job's time offering, as it seemed reasonable to assume I shouldn't get

I had the same thought while reading through this site! I've started working through Crafting Interpreters a few weeks ago. I have been loving it. I'll generally read a chapter one evening, and then write the code from it the nex

> It takes some practice, but once you get it your code grows so much better. It's true. I had a bit of a roundabout journey to getting this idea. Studying CS, I learned a ton about implementation inheritance, and only a bit about c

Another reason is it can help make testing more simplified. Instead of having to use a library to perform mocking or stubbing of specific functions within the objects, you can pass in fake instances of objects that help exercise the test pr

I agree. There are also options to make some of the things from the article relatively easy. Off the top of my head, a CI/CD pipeline can be set up using Gitlab , Azure DevOps, Bitbucket Pipelines, and I'm sure tons of others. The

One question I have is with the "One Graph" idea. I get the principle, and it does seem like it would be nice. However, it's hard for me to imagine what this looks like in practice. I haven't done anything with GraphQL i

There is an episode of Hidden Brain which touches on this subject, though I don't remember if it mentions any sort of measured differences between men and women. Either way, it is a neat discussion on the topic. https://www.

Where I work we use Bitbucket for code reviews. Their code review setup works well for us. We especially enjoy the "like" button that Codebrag also seems to have. It doesn't seem like Codebrag is very much different from this
