We need to halt the closed development of closed-source/closed-data AI platforms, including development under the military-industrial complex. We’ll never legislate away AI development, but given the hardware requirements, we could qui

See the sentence after that. You’re already married, but in today’s market, increasingly few people want to be married and have kids, women of reproductive age even less so than the average person. As a man, if that’s the goal of a relation

Very much agreed on us not all needing the same solution. I’d argue Ansible makes more sense for apps written in scripting languages (particularly Python, obviously), while Kubernetes makes more sense for deploying statically-typed/com

I use K8s because if I don’t like what my deployment costs or how my cluster is supported, I can easily pick it up and take it to another provider or even host it myself (though I don’t really want to self-host).

So I’m a long time Reddit user that has basically stopped using it entirely after their API terms change (other than when I need to use it as a reference). I don’t think I’ll be going back though.

This can be condensed into the simple, age-old rule: don’t worry about DRY or reusability until you’ve copy-pasted the code into a third place.

I mean, relativity already means everything depends on location, so this should just fit right in, right? The contents of your “slice” are from right now at your location, from 20 years ago at locations 20ly from you, 30 years ago at 30ly,

I think there’s a place for WYSIWYG Markdown, and actually, Markdown’s simplicity actually seems like a good opportunity to simplify WYSIWYG and make it mobile-friendly (this tool does not seem to be, so I’ve yet to try it…). In fact, mos

My hope is that, being easy to deploy to Kubernetes, it should be easy to deploy to your own server! Or at least, as easy as Kubernetes is to deploy. The backend dev instructions are also enough that it should be easy to set it up on your o

So, as others are saying, the point of this being a protocol and app is that I’m not trying to assert control over that. If someone wants to use my platform to run a racist cesspool, I absolutely encourage legislatures to stop them, and s

Yeah, I’m just eliminating the GQL server as it’s a bit redundant :) I’d argue that for what I want to do (single ingress everything), gRPC’s various language-specific frameworks handle TLS better than most (obviously not all) HTTP framew

Yes, I use Cloudflare for the website for https://beatscratch.io . However, I want to have a TLS-secured gRPC server also available on the same domain, which means using Cert-Manager, which is definitely easier if your DNS provid

Excellent suggestion! I've typically done this in the past; however, targeting Kubernetes deployments, having a single point of ingress has been a major factor of keeping costs down. But no doubt, multi-ingress would speed things up. T

It's pretty easy to scale, but scaling nearly anything costs more money than I have to spend on a hobby project :) I'm paying about $25/mo out-of-pocket to run both those domains. It would probably have lasted a good bit long
