Most people seemed to be having lots of fun roasting Cellebrite for that awful article. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25520481

If anything, this attack reminded me of the Weather Underground bombings in the 70s, which were often prefaced by evacuation warnings and targeted infrastructure rather than people. If I had to take a guess though, I'd go with a genui

It's a bit ironic to cite the Oklahoma City bombing, as it was motivated by retaliation for the Ruby Ridge and Waco incidents, two examples of federal law enforcement "shenanigans" that resulted in a lot of dead civilians. Ma

Low-skill immigration, like the shop workers and cleaners cited in the article, is an example of private industry obtaining a small benefit (lower wages) at the cost of a significantly larger externality imposed on the government and societ

It seems rather lax already, to be honest. France requires five years of residency, the ability to speak French, and a basic understanding of French culture and civics. That really seems like the bare minimum for the state to take on a life

Mayor de Blasio's deputy, part of the group that decided to hire McKinsey in the first place, is now a senior advisor there... Maybe hiring decisions like that have something to do with it? > The mayor’s office denied that McKinsey

I would assume that the FBI looked into the provenance of the laptop when they subpoenaed it over a year ago. Biden's campaign has also not repudiated the repair shop owner's story of how the laptop came into his possession, and t

Thanks for pointing that out, I've changed the link to a different article that has Bobulinski's full statement. He verifies the authenticity of the contentious email referring to a "10% cut for the big guy" in the first

According to the FBI[0] and the DNI[1], there is no evidence indicating that Hunter Biden's laptop is misinformation. Given that some of the emails have been independently verified by their recipients who have made statements on the re

I agree with a lot of this in principle, but there are additional factors at play when it comes to police scheduling and deployment. Serious crime isn't evenly distributed over time, so a police force has to have enough armed officers

Often Twitter will lock the creation of new tweets, and require the manual deletion of the offending tweet before you can continue posting. I suspect that's what happened in this case, rather than an outright account suspension.

Some of this blandness may be by design, at least when it comes to political content. YouTube caught a lot of flak in 2018 for allegedly being a "radicalization pipeline", but research[0] shows that their "next video" re

To the best of my knowledge, that claim is not accurate. Police are issued hollow points because over-penetration is a much bigger concern in an urban, civilian area. In a military context, over-penetration is less of a concern, FMJ ammo is
