There was a great interview with Bruxe Tate on the "Mostly Erlang" podcast some time last year. He discusses the decision process behind the languages that were included in the original "Seven Languages" book. From what

I was on the rust mailing list for a little while about a year ago. Around that time there was discussion of this exact subject. Most of the discussion was around exactly how to break parameters beyond a certain length and so forth, but it

Came in here to make the same comment. I used to do some work with the author around the time he was writing it. There was much talk about playing Battle Toads in their break room.

That seems like an easy mistake to make from what I remember in reading the origin of Haskell. They had issue with the licensing and cost of Miranda and struck out to build upon it. Here's the original article, "A History of Haske

I can't recommend that book enough. It's extremely well written and approaches advanced concepts in an approachable way. The book is worth the price on the basis of fizzbuzz in lambda calculus alone.

Well balanced in street fighter terms comes down to the saturation of tiers, and how diverse top level play can be. Every fighting game has a high tier, no matter how well balanced they try to make it. The interesting part is how tiers evol

A company I consult with has done a lot of research on Glass users over the past several months. I won't, and can't, share any of those insights, but I can say this: the office still has 40 glass devices sitting in boxes because n

Much of the spec and the lib for the ruby version reads like it was written by a clojurist. That may sound funny, but it was all written by David Chelimsky, a long time rubyist who maintained RSpec. To me the most interesting aspect of the

Ruby certainly has first-class functions. Not only can you pass "functions" around as lambdas or procs, you can also detach and re-atach methods from a class or object at runtime. From the wikipedia: "Specifically, this means

As @dugmartin mentioned, it's really quite nice if you are using coffeescript. It ends up resembling templating in a lisp, something akin to hiccup for example. I imagine a similar effect can be had with ES6 destructuring assignment, j
