I'm much more willing to believe that their new business model is driven by a small Google "tax". It's like Amazon's strategy of sitting on top of online commerce and charging a small fee to make those transactions

Okay, but comments on this post seem to be particularly insufferable. HN is usually filled with poor attempts at being clever; rarely is it ever so completely contradictory and illogical.

It would be really cool if they sent a companion drone for high value items, or maybe even a fleet. You know, for pictures, not artillery or anything..

Khan's lectures are a bit extemporaneous in an attempt to be more conversational. Because of this, he often makes errors or explains topics sloppily. It's not so egregious that it ruins the content, and it seems to fit his approac

Not to be rude, but not only is this over produced, the level of production makes it pretty incoherent. I get that you're trying to illustrate your point with planes matching up to your hand movements, and blocks of information enterin

Because the university approach is working perfectly. No humongous debt or diminishing returns issues at all. ..The current university system is just as untenable. It's just established.

I really wish Udacity would clarify their approach going forward. Will their classes become solely vocational, or will they continue to develop conventional courses? It's not either/or.

The education is still free. They're still offering all the course materials they did before, they're just adding on the mentoring and certification tier.

This is basically the future of Google's business. You think they're developing products like autonomous cars, google now, and glass for kicks? They want to provide very powerful incentives so they can take a small bit of every tr

I think you're right on with the probability of personalities clicking. I'm a pretty outgoing person, but I've only met a handful of people in my lifetime who I genuinely enjoy being around. I think I'm pretty lucky that

I'm sorry, but hearing geeks talk about quitting google as if it's some personal triumph (in nearly every google thread) makes the sentiment seem even more tone deaf and futile.

I see, I've heard Vic is notorious for forcing his own products. But if it's truly an issue, why does Larry allow Vic to exercise so much control? It sounds like the entire executive staff is to blame.
