If your targeting is machine learning driven and linked to other databases so you can create 100k+ ads with optimized variations all linked to A/B style tests then that targeting is extremely useful. Maybe peoples responses give you en

Just checked the page, does Tether really have $437,346,130.08 USD? Site just doesn't look like what you'd expect from something that big, doesn't feel right.

Hopsworks looks like it might be exactly what I need, I do typical data science work for small to small-medium data and wanted to start properly playing with spark on a HDFS store. Currently most work is just done in R/Python in VM

Good to see firefox progressing, I've started using it again ever since the multi process work in 54 and been relatively happy with it. Only thing really missing for someone that always has about 50 tabs open is de-prioritising backgro

I recall reading a paper (sorry, can't find the link now) where the volume of news mentioning the company was what was relevant. Need to measure this in terms of average volume of news for all tracked market participants, and relative

Probably comes down to whether the model can be trained with gradient descent (at least in the short term). A general pre-trained RL guided architecture search (#1) together with more choices of nonlinearity (#2), feature extraction (#3), p

Can you pass through a graphics card in anyway or would it need to be installed on the host? I'm thinking about making my main workstation a proxmox host, with the desktop environment a container.

Thanks heaps for the detailed reply! The BigO complexity analysis 'for free' sounds pretty interesting. I'm wondering if Co-dfns would be a natural fit for an algorithmic design of programs through deep learning. We're a

These replies are all very valuable, so appreciate everyone's comments. I have been involved in implementing a risk model for a financial services company, and the system is written completely in R and split as follows: live model: R s

This looks interesting, but getting a feel for the implications is pretty difficult without spending a lot of time. A discussion of the implications in terms of speed, robustness, maintainability and future hardware would be really useful.

Would something like this be viable as part of a geoengineering solution to climate change? E.g. could we partially cancel out earth's magnetic field in order to control atmosphere loss and thereby control the greenhouse gas effect?

Depends on your needs, dual socket xeon servers can be had with huge amounts of ram if you shop around. E.g. I got an IBM 3650 m2 with 2x L5640 and 128gb of ecc ram for $200. For my needs (heavy data processing on a budget) its been awesome

I've done a lot of thinking about this myself, and I think for an entity that thinks far enough ahead there would be. Lets say we have an AGI that is trying to maximise a goal, such as maximise its expected future knowledge over all ti

I really wish the mobile VR platform could also be run as a low latency wireless display for a decent PC. Seems like it could get many more PC gamers to try VR (already own phone, pc, just spend $80 on headset), and cement Daydream in as th

Good to see PyPy progressing. I mainly use Scikit Learn, theano, numpy and pandas; is PyPy able to work with the above, and likely to give any speedups at this stage?

You sound knowledgable so thought I'd ask here :) ... Would there be any logic/benefit in a modern lisp machine? e.g. if intel decided they'd put the same engineering effort into a 'lisp machine' as they did Haswell

Random idea that might have been mentioned elsewhere, but would a possible monetisation/motivation strategy for a consumer model be people pay only when they miss a session? Would make for a fun PR campaign at least.

As others have point out this just means you have to trust Sharelock. While its slightly less user friendly, and it has its own security issues would the following be viable: 1) Sender clicks 'share a file' and no file is uploaded
