Toy analogy mostly makes sense for online media where attention is valuable. If a “toy” is loved/used by tons of people, then it has their attention, and this attention can be monetized. Most likely through the usual advertising surf

Wondering if these funds may be obligated to work in the interest of their investors vs just maximize dollar value. For example, should a factory worker retirement fund invest in robotic companies that automate workers out of a job? I supp

Money represents value created. If you simply hand out money, say in the form of BI, without it being in exchange for value created, you are simply deflating the value of money. This will cause inflation. And you'll end up back wher

Browsers can learn this on their own and start prefetching likely resources before the server responds. Like a cpu's branch prediction. I wouldn't be surprised if chrome already did this.

I think google did a good job of this in the early days. They got the word out on the street that their interviews were notoriously difficult. That probably dissuaded a lot of the random applicants. I also read somewhere that some big bank

Happiness is relative. Humans (and animals) value "fairness" even if they are objectively better off. There is a famous experiment where two monkeys are given a cucumber every day. They are both happy. Then one of them starts ge

Everyone keeps talking about the constitution as if it is set in stone. The constitution was made by people, 50 years ago. It can and should be changed to reflect new realities.

Perhaps I was too terse in my comment and earned myself down votes. Realistically, if you are shipping software in the real world where it could run on older browsers, you do need to use something like bluebird just to get uniform support.

This kind of stuff plays out at much smaller scale too. You just don't hear about it in the national news. So some due diligence on your investors is worthwhile if you are going to pour the next 5 years of your life into something.

I tend to agree with this approach specially given how much ram/cores you can get on a single box today. You can run what took a cluster of servers 10 years ago on a single box. Just make sure your code doesn't assume that every
