yep, not a coincidence there - you have to run atmospheric fluorescence detectors in a dark, unpopulated desert, far from light pollution ideally

yes - probably already is, i’d the dataset is actually public now (MAST archive probably). Usually is in FITS format with associated metadata. PNG is obviously useless for numerical analysis.

Only a few (maybe 2) people who work on TA are from Delta. Some were there for night shifts for days to a week or two - most of it was to be automated. A few of the researchers were mormon, most are not. Most drank (even if at Curleys). It’

no, that would be a single exposure (aka single integration). There’s so many reasons not to do that over many days. You take multiple exposures and stack them and mask bright things around saturation during coaddition

A nice (but not luxury) 2BR place, or a modest 3BR place, within 60 minutes of SF (excluding Central/Deep East Oakland) can easily be $50k/year if you moved in within last 3 years. That’s probably close to the average (4k/mo)

This is an interstate issue, as emissions do not respect state lines, so it can’t be decentralized to the states if that’s what you are implying.

I am also pro-choice - I have thought the viability standard was always going to be a moving target thanks to medical and technological advances that could topple at some point too - even if you defined it as something like NNth percentile.

Laws like that would only be possible in certain years where there’s a majority across all 3 branches (e.g. 2008) and neutered when the other branch is in power. Arguably a supreme court decision is more stable. A constitutional amendment w

I’m sure quite a few MBP 2015 users are going to be a little sad the end is near. I loved that machine. I was able to skip the 2017 MBP and go to 2019, but honestly I miss the smaller trackpad.

After AOL chat waned, MSN Chat was really fun too 2003-2005?. I spent a ton of time on the local chat and I really missed it when it left. I know AOL had that but it was before the great ISP unbundling and was mostly gone by 2002 IIRC. I ne

For a more nuanced take on the indigestible claim: https://www.livescience.com/why-humans-cannot-digest-corn.ht... But yes, No. 2 yellow field corn is a food for humans - just not in its rawest form.

this is a naive take. All corn is edible, though usually processed like it has been since corn was maize - ground or nixtamalized. And that’s how yellow corn is also used, to make tortilla chips and taco shells. You just aren’t going to g

I’d been active-ish in US-RSE and worked at a national lab for 10+ years. I left about a half year ago for a position at a FANG-ish company. My pay was almost doubled (after counting bonus) and with RSUs it’s double+. I could have squeezed

hard shell tacos are easy to find in the southwest and much different to what taco bell might serve. They are just fried corn tortillas folded. That was the original inspiration of to crunchy taco, execution just got iffy as they scaled up.
