Fermilab has been in trouble for a while. They did not diversify enough at the tail end of Tevatron and (I think) are mostly working on DUNE, which isn’t going great. You can’t have a lab that big with mostly a singular focus which is being

Been reading since 2008 or so, after I started playing around with old DSLRs and posited an upgrade to a D200. Will be a ad to see it go. One of the few websites I still check daily. Hopefully somebody builds an archive at least.

Both of those are non-trivial and annoying to say the least, I know ROOT has a few very smart people managing build recipes in conda-forge too.

I’ve been around pessimists, which can have different flavors, and while it can be draining, it can also be strangely motivating - some of my best work is frankly adversarial pessimists.

You can schedule jobs without a wall clock time if the admin didn’t disable it, but it’s awkward. That will make scheduling MPI jobs hard/impossible.

I think that’s largely because people who get certificates often do so because they didn’t have formal (or close to formal, e.g. highly motivated dropouts) education in the field they are getting a certificate. (also - job churn, and/o

Depositing anything over the $250k limit is a risk, but one that is standard operating procedure. The reality is that every startup/VC was happy to absorb that risk for benefits previously described. They, in fact, should have hedged t
