Anyone who has ever moderated knows that allowing a free-speech-for-all, while seemingly a noble ideal, turns into something that nobody needs nor wants. Communication becomes noisy, the topics tend to favour a lowest denominator of quality

An expert recommended it above most things. They like some insects above all, but sunflower seeds mostly. They pretend to like bread, but they usually hide it in a stash and don’t eat it unless they really hungry.

I had a similar thought today when feeding some crows. Usually they don’t like it when other people show up, and they leave or hide for a bit in a tree or some such. So by proxy I don’t like having people around since we all have to wait.

Indeed, supply chains, or a webcam to the free range chicken eggs perhaps. Lots of options to make things a bit more transparent.

I would be massively in favour of adding a QR Code that details as much as possible (without giving away trade secrets if that is possible) where and how something is sourced and then adding how it was processed. Much like you get a track a

No but isn’t this a case of “more eyes + more gates” , by making the system more complex in number of passing checks, you also make it more robust. Perhaps some middle ground can be achieved.

I think like other publications (e.g. businessinsider) you have the blog side (note the /sites in the url) a bit like Medium. And you have the news editorial, which is the main site.

Isn’t there an active research for the “island of stability” at the top end of the table? Aka a set of elements that theoretically remain stable.

Personally I have no gripes with GIMP, it IS great it’s there, but when I look at recent FOSS projects I enjoy like Blender, Godot, Kdenlive… I can’t help that GIMP could be a lot more successful in building an active ecosystem of sprawling

The professionalism of the team really astounds me, from direct and honest communication to the actual quality of the builds. Godot is a treasure I feel and a great example of how to do open source, and build a community.
