Also don't forget about Quantiacs ( https://quantiacs.com/ ) -- Quantiacs supports both Python and Matlab, and is focused on managed futures -- not equities. It's open source, and unlike quantopian or quantconnect -

I'd recommend that you get good at stochastic processes and time series analysis, machine learning, and neural networking on the tech side, and managed futures and commodities trading as opposed to stocks. Quantiacs is the best place t
