Sounds like Elm is run by a benevolent dictator, as is common with open source, and ended up making a difficult design choice that a lot of people didn't like. As a newcomer to the language, I've had a pleasant experience with the

To add to the list of flaws with Telegram's secret chat implementation, you have to wait until the other user is online before you can start one.

Hinted at with lower bandwidth requirements, but the biggest win with video is their stellar compression. GIFs store every single color value, which is why they get so huge so quick.

Not seeing anything new in that post. CPU is still the only confirmed change, and they go through the implications of the device using the i.MX 8M Plus.

Yep. I posted this on a different Signal HN submission, but the very next commit on April 22nd, 2020 was when they first began working on the integration. https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server/commit/95f0

Yep, I'm a group 3 user who has been defending Signal on HN for years. I probably won't be leaving the platform since it took so much effort to get friends/family to use it. But this whole scenario is inexcusable. We've

Yeah. I'd like to self-host a wrapper around the dataset so that people who trust me (friends and family) can safely check if their number's in the breach.

Firefox is good enough. Just remember to change your search provider, since they're still tied to a contract with Google. Their multi-account containers have been awesome, and I hope other browsers adopt similar functionality. For furt

Do you know if it was PC USA (which is more mainline) or PCA (which is more evangelical/fundamentalist)? It's actually a pretty huge split in that denomination. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestantism_in_t

Funnily enough, one of the most secular countries, Sweden, has a 50%+ church membership. But it's an anomaly; church membership is still a good litmus test for secularity everywhere else.

I'd argue that the polarization is a direct result of the rise of evangelical Christianity. And as church membership decreases, their perceived persecution will fan the flames of their crusade against soft drugs, LGBTQ+, and trans righ

Those comments were really helpful to me. HM did a great job at showing just how insanely large this ship is and why it will be difficult to get it unstuck. To a layman such as myself, a boat remaining stuck for almost an entire week sounds

With the official Bitwarden repos, this is solved by having reputable teams periodically run security audits. Sadly, it's unlikely this Rust implementation will be audited any time soon.

Erm, neither was the author of The Mind Illuminated. It’s literally just a textbook for how to meditate for western audiences. I’m not sure how you got that from my comment. Not even sure what you mean by that last sentence. I’m sorry that

We’re finally getting to where the rub is! For one, I don’t think disassociating is a _bad_ thing. Psychedelics (and ketamine in particular) can be very therapeutic for their disassociative properties. This also transfers over to meditation
