For as much as people jumped all over Gitlab last month, this seems remarkably similar in terms of preparedness for accidental and unanticipated failure.

This almost seems like more of a hype article for Github than reality. It's certainly an extreme version of some truths (good and bad), but this is not how things are going to become for developers, certainly not as soon as 2018-2019.

You must have enabled it, I'm still on El Cap and it's not the default (also did a clean install of it).

I think SLC salaries vary a lot by technology too. There's a lot of developers I know in that range here that would be around 135 in SF. Completely agreed on how much better of a value it is here though.

Are there instructions about hooking up Netlify with GL pages? I'm currently using Cloudflare w/ my Github pages blog, but it was a bit tricky to set up and I'm considering redoing my blog anyways.

If you're heading to Best Buy, what about a 2015 MPB? I would assume that like previous releases, they continue to sell the older model at a cheaper price.

I don't think we are necessarily the specific target audience. If so, he probably would have done a better job with the technical details.

I think that was very well done by the Wix CEO. It doesn't matter that he doesn't seem to understand GPL. His job is not to put out a blog post saying yes, we're idiots, liable for everything. His job is to put out a good l

If you're considering purchasing a currently available computer, what about the current 15" MPB?

Make sure you don't upgrade to Sierra yet! The next version of Karabiner (karabiner-elements) that works on Sierra is still under development.

That's also how keyboard remapping apps (like Karabiner) work, so it seems plausible here at least.

Yes, of course. I should have said "support" instead of "vote for."

And once that happens, that legitimizes DHH firing Basecamp employees who vote for Trump. I understand that Thiel's involvement with YC is not "employment," but the point is that 1) yes, people are suggesting excluding Trum

It seems like most people want YC to cut Thiel off, which would be very similar to that. David Heinemeier Hansson and Ellen Pao have advocated for virtually that exact scenario.

I think the idea is that you thinking they are stupid is much different from being fired from a job (or removed as a partner, however you would frame this scenario). The changing externalities leads to that gray area.

I really like that this works for all services interchangeably. Yes, Github created Hub for this same problem, but I've used Bitbucket at some jobs and Gitlab personally for some projects. Having something uniform and service agnostic

A couple days ago I noticed that the status box on the PR page now includes a list of conflicted files. Not sure if that was in any way related to my request here, but wanted to thank you if it was. That is very helpful.

Postgres.app is "easier" to install but more trouble to develop with than properly installed Postgres. And "easier" means downloading an app, since it's quicker and fewer steps to install via Homebrew.

It can do almost anything with the keyboard. I'd suggest just checking it out. A lot of people make changes to caps lock, shift key, left/right option/command, etc. I only do two things, setting fn to send hyper and swapping

Heads up for anyone using Karabiner to remap their keyboard-- it's not updated for Sierra yet. I figure that's a more popular app among HN crowd than most places, and losing it is really painful.

Thank you! Can I make one more request? I'd love to be able to see merge conflicts from the diff page (also like BB does). Knowing the conflict is just db/schema version instead of something more problematic-- that is especially h

I'd really like it if the Pull Requests page would denote which PRs I've already approved. That is one thing I really liked from Bitbucket, it makes it easy to skip over what I've already approved. It would become slightly mo

What does the `git add -A "$@"` do? I tried it just now, and it was equivalent to doing `git add .` (although I am using bash instead of ZSH). I have this alias for myself: `git commit -a --amend --no-edit && git push --fo

I agree with what you would like for the new MBP. One note, the 2015 MBP does smoothly drive dual 4Ks plus the internal. That's the set up I have at work right now. I just have the base model, and I'm not sure about the 2014 ones.
