"it's not the hard bit but just the UX" – I think this is not a good statement. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it shows a certain state of mind: Tech/protocol/crypto/algorithms are hard, but UX is

You need to be on a desktop device, you need to have Docker running and you need to have port 9000 still available. So I still think these are pretty high requirements to test a product out. Especially since this is a tool being used by non

Looks great! I've been looking for something like this in the FOSS world for a while now. Will give it a try. Suggestion to the author: A demo link would be great (doesn't need to actually send mails) – but just clicking through t

The link target is correct. I think the owner of the target site redirects visitors from HN to lobste.rs which is an alterantive HN UI/client. Anyway, just copy the link and open it manually in a new tab to read the initial blog post.

Similar, but different: IRC is decentralized (you connect to a certain server, and you can interact with users/rooms on this server). Matrix is federated (you connect to a certain server, but you can interact with users/rooms on e

Please fix the contrast ratio of quotes and inline code segments in dark mode on this website. It's black text on dark blue background, which is barely readable.

I recently switched from Matomo to Umami and I don’t regret it at all. Of course Matomo can do a lot more, but Umami is perfect for my use case and a lot less work to maintain and host than Matomo.

Good question. Very debatable. I don't agree with your statement that "anybody who doesn't [know what a userscript is] won't need one". If it was explained better there might definitely be people who could use this

That's not what I'm trying to say. Obviously I can google this. I still think documentation should say within a couple of words what a piece of software does – without having a lot of domain knowledge.

Spent about two minutes on the website and could not find out what "userscript support for browsers" means. Literally could not figure out, what this thing does – and I have a degree in CS. Maybe it's just me who's not i

Hate to be the devil’s advocate here, but aside from shitty PR I don’t see a lot of things that went wrong: - As a Customer you need to make sure that your “Park” request goes through to the car and wait for the doors to lock. This might ta

Just FYI: Handel translates to „Trade“ in German. I think you picked it to refer to the composer „Händel”, right? Anyway I expected something different after reading the name ;)

Depending on your hardware, your NAS software might be a good replacement. Pretty much all of them offer decent music apps. (e.g. Synology DS Audio).

It is a fantastic piece of software. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, helps you to avoid scammy default firmware of IoT devices and has a great community. I’m a huge fan and have two dozen of Tasmota devices scattered around my pla

Why would you need Codespaces for that? They released a standalone GitHub app recently just for this purpose. Not sure if it also works with the web version. But Codespaces seems to be the wrong tool for this job.

Interestingly, it seems that Microsoft hast just renamed its "Visual Studio Online" (which was basically the same as this new product) to "Visual Studio Codespaces". So it seems that they are merging these two products.
