I think so too. It surprised me how people could do things like this and not be sued under the CRA.

That’s not what I’m saying. Racism happened in the 90s, but it wasn’t explicit discrimination. Explicitly discriminating against certain races now is something new. Two things can be bad at the same time: implicit racism then and now; expli

I think the argument is that while there was suspicion and implicit lack of meritocratic procedures before the initiatives, after doubt was removed. For example, I just started in the 90s and worked in tech but I never heard an HR person or

First time I’ve seen it despite being on HN for many years. Looks like last time was 2023, so seems non-constant to me.

It would be nice if the government ran an identity server and you could check for arrests and convictions and such. But I wouldn’t really want a government to onboard restaurants, or process refund requests. That seems like a nightmare.

As a customer, I need a middleman/market maker to select participants and provide quality control. There’s not a good reputation system so I would not use p2p cabs or food delivery because I don’t trust the drivers. At least with Uber,

I’m guessing there a discord server somewhere with 90% management agents just waiting to honeypot potential union workers. Seems like digital workplace should be easier to organize with all the community tools we have.

I understand all this. I didn’t say that static sites are easy to hack or valuable, I responded to GP’s claim “They cannot be hacked” I think static sites are a good technique that has vastly improved security over dynamic sites, but thinki

Similar motivation as hacking a Wordpress site, putting seo spam out there. There’s less payoff, but people still do it.

They can certainly be hacked, just like any static site. Web servers have vulnerabilities. And the files can certainly be edited as they aren’t immutable. They are less resource intensive and easier to maintain, but aren’t immune. (Running

I would guess because they don’t care. The marginal cost is zero and I think they would only bother if someone ddoses or it becomes an issue. Until then, more devices are probably positive for reducing potential pitchforking.

Camera helps with this. I hate video but leave my camera on so people can see when I want to speak or am reacting to what they’re saying.

I don’t like video calls either, but I greatly prefer them to in person meetings with groups of people. It’s kind of like how mp3s are worse in many ways to records but are cheap and convenient. Of course zoom meetings are worse than being

I think “keeping up appearances” is too subjective to be meaningful. It seems like something that someone will always think they aren’t or are, so you have to poll people or whatever to figure it out. So it will lead to me chasing something

I don’t like stars as a metric. Or at least as a comparator. If you brag about having a millions stars that says something as a million is a lot. But if you brag that your project as a million and your competitor has half a million, that is

I love open source EMRs, but has any major country adopted open source EMRs? I know OpenMRS exists but is mainly used within developing nations. The US has Vista, made by VA, and it is a beast and no one really wants to use it.

It seems like the answer to this is just reputation limits. There’s not a good “programmer whuffie” system, but I imagine requiring an active GitHub account over a year old will reduce instances. And then post the email address and handle o

I believe you have good intentions, but someone would need to build it out and sell it. And it requires lots of maintenance. It’s too boring for an open source community. There’s a whole industry that attempts to do what you do and there’s

Getting in the file name was kind of easy. But I meant adding it visually in the pdf guidance so readers could tell. Just numbers in the lower left corner. Or maybe right. The guideline was available via url so the filename couldn’t change.

I’d rather have the pdf than a custom tool. Especially considering the tool will be unique to the practice or emr. And likely expensive to maintain. PDFs suck in many ways but are durable and portable. If I work with two oncologists, I use
