Well, to make a long story and potential flame war short: My original post was not about VIM or Emacs. It was stating happiness about an editor (Lime) that tries to be easy to get started, yet is open source.

Good luck my good friend with having tied your professional fortune to a small company that you are not affiliated with. This is not politics, this is simply dangerous and I do feel that way every time I see someone with a copy of Sublime.

Honest question: How is it that GMail is perceived faster than a locally running MUA like mu4e which is quoted in the article? I'm actually using mu4e for exactly this reason: It's so much faster than any web client could ever be.

In my startup (voicerepublic.com) everyone works part time. Technical and operational side are incredibly complex, yet with a part-time team we managed easily. In fact, I could have been a 100% CTO (which of course means 180%^^), yet I cho

We are actually using this in our company and couldn't be happier. We're using Emacs ledger-mode and git to keep track of everything. Ledger is also tied into our billing system. A couple of shell scripts and Latex easily beats ev

Yet, if you do know Lisp, you realize that not too many languages feature a true REPL with the R not just reading in Text that gets evaluated, but actually being a Reader. So, we actually did lose some things with the new and shiny REPLs -

I'm a lecturer myself and am curious: How do your lecturers deal with the situation that students have at least three different operating systems (LINUX, Mac, Windows)? Setting up a VM will make 2/3rds cringe in my experience - se

Hi Gerald S9 really looks nice - however, it is not self contained in the sense that I was referring to. p_slides is essentially a single HTML file (with the other assets hosted somewhere). For S9, Ruby and usage of the command line is requ

Ok, I do understand now. In my career, I have not met a 800x600 projector - but the problem scales (pun intended^^), of course. Would you be willing to share your hacky mess or make a PR? I really do get what you're referring to now an

Thanks for that hint! p_slides is explicitly dumb, though. It has no requirements to install additional software, pre-compile anything or run a server. This way it just works for many lecturers on different Operating Systems with very diffe
