I think you missed his/her point. Costco gets to have more motivated and more loyal employees because their pay is significantly higher than minimum wage. If minimum wage goes up, they lose some/all of the benefit unless they further increa

While it's not as extreme as the the situation described in the article, it's still racism. A restaurant isn't allowed to discriminate based on race, why is a university?

The physics, while not dating back as far, were also present in flash games pre-Angry Birds, the most popular being Crush the Castle. Angry birds brought a slightly simpler aiming mechanism and (probably most importantly) a much more polish

Because not everybody has enough self control. I'm sure most people who waste too much time on reddit/tumblr/etc. realize they could be spending their time more productively, and many of them have made an effort to do so and failed. At that

Modern farming is also a high tech field, most people will die anyway when you revert to agrarian societies. Once you've spread across multiple planets you're no longer at (significant) risk of extinction, so the effect is pretty much the s

Why would you try to visit the entire world if you only have 2 weeks of vacation available? At best you would have time to visit a handful of landmarks per city before getting right back on a plane. That's a complete waste of money.

Private financial institutions would no longer loan nearly as much money to students to pay for college, so less money would go through the chain of (student after graduation)->lender->(student when they were in school)->school.

It's not that they're pumping money in that's the problem, it's the place they decided to pump that causes the issue. Financial aid and guaranteed loans are on the side that increases many student's ability to pay. The alternative is to giv

If Eclipse can handle your language, then the eclim plugin will provide renaming, real autocomplete, etc. within vim. It just runs eclipse in the background and exposes functionality to vim.

Google doesn't want to kill iOS, they just want people using the web, and smartphones are a great way to get more people there. Android's purpose to get lots of people using smartphones, whether it's by using an android device, or by puttin

I'm definitely not saying they shouldn't be saving. The (now deleted) comment I replied to was awed by the high savings rate the kids were getting, 5%. I was just putting it in perspective.

If you're a a bad parent, particularly in a poor inner city family, that's the western solution. If you're a good parent the solution is to teach your kids moral lessons without using violence.

Inflation in India is north of 7% so that kind of savings rate isn't great. It's worse than the 0% savings/1.7% inflation we have in the U.S.
