Great to see that they’ve attributed Nikita Prokopov, the creator of FiraCode. While not the first, he expanded the ligatures in Hack, and Hasklig fonts and Jetbrains eventually bundled Firacode in their products. Quite a nice course of ope

Quite often I find useful information from blogs or forum posts. I never seem to get the right keywords to find those in search results. Another super annoying thing is that “filetype:pdf” is full of spam websites with same template, such a

A tip if you're using iOS/iPadOS: In Safari, taking a screenshot now supports taking "full page shot", which you can save as a pdf. You get this option when you tap the tiny screenshot preview.

Thanks for this. I want to say that it’s all bad choice from Mozilla and rant, but instead I want to understand the threat model they’re considering. Extensions do get a lot of access to browser, and may also use side-channels[1] to work ar

I got concerned for a moment that this will end up forcing all extensions to be available only from Add On store, (similar to Chrome). Thankfully it’s not that. Note that even extensions distributed outside their store need an automatic sig

First example can be misleading. It fails to account for low-dpi displays where your nice and crisp font may render with one or two pixel width. Colors easily bleed-in in those cases.

I have had similar rejections because my extension was asking for “broad host permissions”, however, the “ https://*.<extension api domain>” was the only url we needed permission for, simply because that’s required for exte

Pythonista 3 (currently on TestFlight) is another option. I like the custom keyboard shortcuts that it adds. It can also trigger shortcuts, I reckon.

Seems like it, thanks anyway! Maybe now that there’s USBKit (although not sure if it’s MacOS only), one might be able to work out a camera driver implementation. Yay, weekend project!

Not sure what’s the CCK. Is it one of the dongles they sell with HDMI, SD Reader, and USB? I first got excited that it can connect to USB webcams — I have some modded webcams I use as microscope — would be super useful if I could interface

Adding to the whatever list, you can also use USB Optical drives with a powered hub (just tried yesterday). It appears in Files app. Seems like they’ve finally implemented proper usb stack.

Automation doesn’t need to be end to end. Consider a case if you need to do an aggregation with pdfs, simple script to read and pull the data points is pretty trivial. You will still need to type the results by hand in excel (for example),

Quick observation from the data presented in article (very well done, by the way): Beginning iOS 11, if I remember correctly, Apple finally added the ability to delete stock apps. Deleted apps could be downloaded from App Store later. Perha

I’m patiently waiting for a Pi Zero format for new Pi 4B (or something close...). Regarding the size of B series, unless I need the ports, I almost always snip out the ports — don’t bother desoldering it, the ground plane in Pi acts as a ma

I don’t use vim as often (~20%), so I’ve mapped caps lock to Esc, and Esc to AltGr — which doesn’t exist in EN-Int layout. The benefit is that I can assign AltGr+{1,2,3,4...} as quick contextual hotkeys without overriding any default combos

Thanks for the pointer. I was mostly using discard material and accidentally discovered that screws can make threads (yeah, not a machinist) — otherwise I’d planned to use nuts on the other side. I might be able to find a tap at maker space

I’ve been using old ssd cases (aluminium ones), which would otherwise end up in trash. Drill four holes, use a screw to create threads in those holes. Lay some thermal tape, and mount the pi. I haven’t seen it rise above 60degs — plus it lo

Genuinely curious about the intuitive part: I found it intuitive because it’s a similar gesture in iOS (control centre). In addition, many other gestures on force touch trackpad such as peek-and-pop, are similar to iOS. I can carry my habit
