Thanks for posting this. Our computer teacher in high school skipped the outdated COBOL sections (just an intro, around 2004) I realise i'd never seen an actual code sample yet! Aside, RE testing, a wild guess: could the "accept c

Wow, this is inspiring work that I wish I’d seen earlier. Here’s my ipython notebook that I used to extract LUTs from an eInk dev panel [1] which eInk support declined to give us the LUTs for. I’d stopped after I managed to display some ima

I used to contribute to Google's 3D Warehouse (which was acquired by Trimble/Sketchup) to add few 3D buildings around Delhi in Google Earth. Teenager me was quite heartbroken when google switched to the auto generated 3D models, b

This is a common approach and I use many apps that use this trick. Examples being Termius, Pythonista, and any app that can log sensor data in background. I hope apple doesn't give a shit about your report. All those apps clearly state

I wouldn't consider it a waste, the changes and history behind those changes to the design seem interesting to me.

Honestly, I didn't open comments and simply added it to my "come back later" list, because it looks very very interesting to me, and would need to read it in detail. Great work, btw!

If you have any opinions on GraphQL vs Cypher, I’d really appreciate it! Context: In web app usage scenario the tooling available for GraphQL seems more popular (with react libraries) than Cypher.

I’ve also seen it with another bank (BNP Paribas), which is pretty good on phones but annoying on website, since it breaks my password manager. They load images with numbers but I can’t spot any obvious pattern in the requests (which is pr

As long as it works or can be fixed with some bodge, I'm okay with that for prototypes. I do tend to tin the traces wherever they seem 'porous'. For broken traces, I use wrapping wire core soldered on tracks. But yeah, that i

No doubt, I had no idea which marker to use. Thanks for the suggestion, I want to give it another go since toner transfer is often a hit/miss.

Nice! I tried doing this a few years ago with a RepRap build. It didn't go well! Bad marker, pigment that dissolved, not enough ink layers, but the most interesting one was with Staedtler markers which sorta dissolve previously laid do

Makes sense, thanks! I just tried doing it in photoshop and observed that to remove moiré grid with single picture i'd need much higher blur radius -- not ideal for a ground truth image. (Note that its a far reaching guess). I'm g

Curious about using three picture average and then gaussian blur to reduce moiré effect as the author did in third picture. It clearly worked, but i'm not sure how?

Note that openwrt has a big community of contributors and not all devices/features are supported. In contrast the manufacturer firmware is at least feature complete and easy for regular users to set up.

Parallels’ way of handling USB is just perfect. I was trying to install RockBox firmware to my iPod Classic and the easiest solution was to use Windows XP in parallels. That’s when I realised how well it’s implemented! It first asked me if

Not really that easy with just IMU sensors, I’d assume ? I did one project in school (albeit a simple SVM based model) to classify walking vs running (and so on) and ambiguity was still there. Stationary vs. Walking was easy to draw a hyper
