I mean, Mach 2 was cutting-edge and freely available from CMU. Probably less a love of UNIX and more the necessity of having a practical base for a new workstation OS.

I find myself agreeing with a lot of these “gnostic” interpretations tbh. When you read stuff like Numbers 14, God just comes off as a total asshole lol Although the whole theology they cooked up around the “true god” reads like bad fan fic

The timing of Xserve was just extremely bad. It was a latecomer to an already saturated market of proprietary UNIX hardware that was already spiraling downward. Once the iPhone was a hit and was printing infinite money Apple had no reason t

A week? Nah. I’ve routinely taken two weeks to burn off PTO. A month straight is probably a hard sell though, yes.

It’s a funny artifact because most people today use, and have only used Linux in a “single user” context. The “local system administrator” is me!

It’s not bad but Congee is pretty much peasant gruel like grits or porridge. If you go out of your way to try it just set your expectations correctly lol

“I can not do that on OpenBSD without a huge headache and very bad performance.” This applies to practically everything, not just virtualization!

The "mini" Windows 3.1 it came with was pretty much fully functional though, you could literally boot directly into PROGMAN.EXE as the main Windows 95 shell.

Wild speculation with zero evidence since no one else is: it wasn't broken, and the US/CIA intentionally moved it so they could communicate with agents in SA/Chile (during Allende etc)

Gospel of Thomas actually has one of my favorite parables. It really stuck in my mind since I read it: "The Kingdom of the Father is like a woman who takes a vessel of flour and sets out on a long road. The handle of the vessel broke:
