Yes, APFS has containers. You can actually install beta/other versions of MacOS in them and nuke it with no issue.

I grew up in Tucson, there was a summer (1994?) where the temps were like ~115-120F and even at a young age I was wondering why the hell people willingly live there lol

Tumblr was extremely comfy. It had a different feel from any other social site, everyone was a lot nicer and friendly and supportive. In a very genuine way. Twitter on the other hand feels like endless sociopaths trying to sell you somethin

MacOS uses Dispatch/GCD to handle signals, the system manages the thread for ObjC/Swift like they described Go and Python. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/dispatch/dispatchs...

I wonder if this was a part of the inspiration for Columbia in Bioshock Infinite?

Considering nVidia has the Grace CPU and probably a significant investment in arm64 development, I'd say yes absolutely. If anyone could do it it's them. Of course theres probably a better chance of Atlantis rising from the sea.

There’s something about the 2019/2023 Mac Pro I never hear get brought up in these threads. Yeah yeah they suck and are pointless and your Thinkpad dug out of a Goodwill dumpster running Arch Linux is 100x more powerful etc etc But: th

IIRC the actual limitation was the M1 only allows mapping PCIE as Device-nGnRE and that precludes eGPU/video cards. Using Linux doesn’t change this behavior.

I got solar + a battery on my house after all the power shenanigans during the 2021 winter storm. I’m off the grid completely pretty much the entire peak period atm (~11am to 7pm) Makes me feel a little less guilty having the AC running all

There’s a fix for it where you remove all the unlock entries in Keychain, and then re-enable it. Only thing that worked for me long term (but it did fix it 100%) https://georgegarside.com/blog/macos/fix-apple-watch

I did therapy for 3 years, 1 year as a teen and 2 years in my early 20s. I had (diagnosed) depression for a decade+ for context. I'll say it: it was completely useless, a total waste of time. I wouldn't consider speaking to a ther

Agreed, the peasants forgot the needs of managers. These are the atlases who carry the burden of the world on their shoulders. Whither productivity if they don’t know how many shits you’re taking a day?

The problem with handing over infra provisioning and maintenance to developers is they don't have the expertise or the time. Unless your platform is REALLY solid, and onboarding is easy and has enough guardrails, you end up with a doze

Yup by the time Panther came out I didn’t have any problems. Having my macports env, X11, Unreal Tournament 2k4, and World of Warcraft on the same laptop felt like the high water mark of computing at the time lol
