The author wrote "smart" in the title, but the content is valid for everybody, smart or not. ;-) I guess the use of "smart" in this title is just marketing to atract readers. Everybody knows that most people think that they are smarter than

In my point of view, it should be possible to use a Fridge as a mailing list, I mean, at least, I should be able to answer comments by e-mail. It is already possible to do this on Facebook. This would help to introduce The Fridge to middle

I agree with you, Buzz is dissimilar to Fridge. My point is that Google is trying to copy Facebook on what Facebook does well, this is not a good strategy. The point of The Fridge is that it is different to Facebook. That's the only way to

The fridge is no more than a private mailing list influenced by social networks. It's funny, google is trying to create a new social network (buzz, orkut, wave, ...) and they have Google Groups that are real communities (spam appart) that o

Of course it is dialects of English. English is not my mother tonge and I don't live in an English speaking country, so I really get angry when someone equates "world" to "English speaking countries". To start with, there is much more peopl

The good thing is that now Gmail's IMAP supports OAuth, so people migh be much less reluctant to give you access to their mailboxes. Yes, the nuisance is there, but I'm sure there is a way to solve it. The good part is that it does not make

I once had a computer running all the time to run POPFile and filter my Gmail messages through IMAP. At that time POPFile+IMAP was not very stable and POPFile would crash often. And also, it was a pain to have a computer running all the tim

I guess Gmail did not release this feature because it might confuse some people. At first, when the filters are not well trained, there are many errors, so I guess, many people would not understand why and would think that Gmail does not wo

I was the owner of an iPhone. When I lost it, I bought a Nokia N900. Since then, I use my phone much more than before, and multitasking is one of the causes of this increase. Of course, my battery life is worse, as I use the phone much more

That's it. If the server is down, goodbye wikileaks. If the bank accounts are seized, goodbye wikileaks. If the leaders are imprisoned, good bye wikileaks. Freenet offers a more resilient architecture.

The problem of Wikileaks is that it is centralised and, therefore, is vulnerable. Freenet offers a much more resilient approach. It is true that Freenet is not yet easy enough, but it is just a java application which almost anyone can run.

Journalist in France and in Spain talk a lot about twitter, but here, in France and Spain, very few people use it. Only those that think that hype means building something. Hype is hype. Vapour. Nothing. That's the main view here.
