You probably won't read this now, but I never mentioned the third world. There are people in the UK who can't afford to do what you're doing, let alone third world countries. Of course I moan about things - but I'm also capable of seeing th

I think it largely depends on the type of website you're running. For example, the kinds of websites I visit are relatively text heavy - I want to see the text regardless of which device I'm using. These websites are pretty light on images

Honestly, you sound like a spoilt brat. There are people who would pay far, far more than you are to get a third of what you're getting. Until you can explain why you think that education must necessarily be 'fun', then there's no hope for

Go back to uni - you've just put yourself at a massive disadvantage compared to everyone who successfully graduates. If you absolutely do not want to do that, then you need to create something that makes a ton of money. I'd get started now

I'm not going to pretend I've been there, because I haven't, but this sentence struck me as being particularly curious: > I walk around waiting for someone to say something to me that matters, but it never happens. Maybe everybody else

My policy is that every year I aim for a substantial pay rise. There is no set percentage that I aim for, I basically just come up with a number that I want, and start negotiating. The day that the company claims there is no more room in th

Anecdotal evidence is not evidence at all. Tyrannical governments come about through incredibly complex situations that can't simply be reduced to an arms race between government and civilians.

Well sure, if I only ever listened to views that echoed my own, I'm pretty sure I'd feel like that too. A few points from this video: 1: Horrible presentation: this is fear-mongering at its finest. 2: Not a single argument presented from

And yet here we are: a man just shot up a school full of kids. A gun is an effective way to kill somebody - regardless of what happens after the fact. Most of the time in these kinds of massacres, the perpetrator doesn't care at all what ha

The point is not that gun control reduces the number of murders: it's that making it harder to get hold of a gun makes it harder to kill somebody . Anybody who wants to kill somebody badly enough will do it with or without gun control: you

Show me why you believe that this is what will happen: don't just tell me that this is what will happen. This is precisely why we do everything in our power to stop countries like Iran getting nukes. It's only a matter of time before some

And yet, countries with strict gun control tend to have far less deaths caused by guns. Nobody is saying that gun control will mean that nobody will ever get shot and killed again, but the harder you make it for people to act on their murde

The reason people don't give much constructive criticism any more is, in my opinion, largely down to a set of pervasive, poisonous attitudes which affect the tech industry: 1: 'Ship early, ship often' is better than 'take your time and get

Documentation should most certainly be updated as the code changes. Programmers should realise that the documentation is just as important (if not more so) than the code itself. If people don't know how to use your wonderful API, then it's

It depends entirely on what kind of system you're building. A common system design is to have a database, a RESTful API, and then a bunch of clients which interact with the API in order to do whatever they need to do. The method of integrat
