I'm not giving any opportunity to anyone. The market will do what it does. As a technology solution, XMPP is far better than a polling based Twitter/Identi.ca client.

I was thinking XMPP/Google Wave. Identi.ca will never win over the Twitter audience, something different may.

That is indeed the solution. If a Twitter type service is to become a real communications platform it must be federated (decentralized) and immune to DOS attacks, government intervention, etc.

Why am I being downmodded? The source is the Wall Street Journal quoting a Deutsche Bank analyst.

This was widely reported. You didn't read the article closely. Nokia is projected to have 56% of the low end market profits. Not the whole market as per apple and rim.

Apple and RIM combined will have an estimated ~%58 of the profits of the ENTIRE mobile handset industry in 2009: http://www.maclife.com/article/news/apple_responsible_about_... Have no mistake that Nokia and others are playing catchup.

Misleading. Having lived in China I can tell you that an Internet user there is nowhere near equivalent to an Internet user in the US in terms of how often and to what extent they use the Internet. For a more relevant breakdown of sophist

We need a permanent presence in space, not a series of one off jaunts. Mars is too far and our technology too limited to colonize. It would just be a flag plant. However the moon is within our reach. Spending resources on Mars now will o

This is going to seriously screw over China. You have the 4-2-1 problem: 4 grandparents living off of 2 parents who are living off of 1 child. It obviously will not work, China doesn't have the wealth to support the welfare and Chinese par

Uh, some of those 200 tweets per second are being sent to over a million people. Most are sent to hundreds or thousands.

Oh man, get over it. In the scheme of things these are not "horrible, terrible" mistakes. Was expecting content, just got whargarbl'd instead. :(

It does to a certain extent. However anyone re-sharing it will not share the digg URL. Furthermore they're not prompted at the top of the page before your content to leave your site. Digg even sticks ads on the bar when you click on someth

If I had a content site I would most certainly put frame busting code on it. To not do so seems foolish. Screw digg.

Nambu is by far my favorite here. Can't stand Adobe Air. Just leaving an Air app running will consume enough extra CPU to kick my fan on and drain my batter 2x as fast. Also the lack of OS chrome sucks.

The newly released Nambu Twitter client does just this. Does the decode inline though. Free too.

I lived in that exact building for a couple years. The major downside of it and similar developments is that it's extraordinarily noisy from all the street traffic. Made me hate buses with a severe passion. This is the major downside to mi

It's not actually a hash of the URL, rather it's typically simply a base 64 serial number that increments for each new URL. That's why the URLs start at 2 characters and grow to 4 or 5, though the number is so large that they'll rarely see

Hmm, if we entirely remove the penis the infection rates will be 0, perhaps that should be considered. Cutting off body parts is a barbaric ritual and should not be encouraged. Spend the time and effort in distribution of condoms and educa

Well kids, let this be a lesson to you on letting your adobe flash loving graphic artist design a GUI. Horrid, horrid, horrid. Would prefer to use Twitter through 'netcat | egrep' than this abomination.

Nonsense. As an iPhone developer and an OS X developer I can say that it doesn't compare to the capabilities of a real desktop. The iPhone has serious constraints in CPU, memory and UI interaction that really encourage simple single purpose

Anyone that cares can access the Internet at large in China. There's many http proxies that work quite fine. Most expats that care use a VPN tunnel to a service or corporate HQ. The rare person uses Tor but it's generally disfavored beca

Then you think very wrong. It's trivial to find open WIFI all over China. Most restaurants and coffee shops have it. I can see several from my apartment.
