I'm in the same spot. It seems like every month a post pops up here that's "I hate passkeys" and most of HN seems to agree. I use 1Password, but passkeys have made things even easier. I'd rather have them than any 2

I do a lot of work in the AEC space. This is an interesting idea but I don't find the results very compelling. There are huge houseplan catalogs out there full of mediocre plans. I'm guessing this is trained on that sort of data a

Did you use the web back in 1995? It was fun, but it also sucked compared to what we have now. Nothing is ever perfect, but I wouldn’t want to go back.

I think the idea is that it happens before they lock the domain as a business. Before that, if you have an email address you can create a personal account with it.

I just hope that people remember this is just one factor affecting quality of life and making a city work. "Density at all costs" ignores a huge set of tradeoffs that are equally as damaging to a city. Things such as urban form, s

I think you're thinking of the efficient-market hypothesis. The hypothesis is that prices reflect all available information, and "available information" is the key part. The "strong form" includes private informatio

I’m sorry you have to make do with that setup. I’d upgrade to an M5 Pro 64GB right away. In fact, your old one has no value. I can safely dispose of it for you.

This is not true. This person is spreading disinformation. They were closed because the Cold War ended and they were no longer needed.

This crosses from quirky to unhinged: During a phone order one season – 2018 I believe – a customer shared this story where he smuggled some Vidalias onto his vacation cruise ship, and during each meal, would instruct the server to ‘take th

This made me think of something I came across recently that’s almost the opposite problem of requiring PDFs to be searchable. A local government would publish PDFs where the text is clearly readable on screen, but the selectable text layer

I think this is just to make it so that data centers and crypto mining facilities can be built and operated where owners want. Makes it so zoning and environmental regulations can’t stop you as easily.
