You might find this interesting: https://github.com/Sibyx/django_api_forms It’s like a lightweight DRF that’s only for JSON/msgpack and looks more like Django forms. Not a very mature project yet though.

Yeah, the TODO list example probably isn't a good example for a complicated scenario when avoiding server side templating makes sense.

That can get pretty complicated for pages with a lot of dynamic elements. For example, if you submit a form and have to re-render the form with an error. All the hidden “ready to be inserted into the DOM” elements also need server side code

I saw a really good reddit comment about this topic recently (server side templating vs client side). Tl;dr: when things get really interactive/dynamic, the js framework simplifies things. “Server side templating can work really well w

Can’t you also pass data into components by using server side templating to fill in props on the component? Like this: https://stackoverflow.com/a/56461472

Not sure I follow this logic. Tobacco and fat studies were paid for, therefore the study I linked must be paid for? That study is meta study and talks about lots of studies. My point is there’s good evidence that GMOs are safe and there are

For sure, but often that’s a sign that you’re doing it wrong. Maybe those aggregations should be done in the database, maybe it should be cached, maybe you should do that in bulk with one request, maybe it should run in the background anywa

Exactly, and I’m surprised none of the other comments mentioned this so far. Often web app endpoints are bottlenecked by IO because they’re spending most of their time talking to a database or cache server. Python is probably not the right

I don’t think this would work very well on the Oculus Rift S. I’ve tried using BigScreen to navigate webpages and it’s just not that easy to read normal sized text. Maybe it’s better on the Valve Index?

I did something similar a while back and the amazon affiliate program cut me off after the first sale. They don’t like price comparison websites. CamelCamelCamel seems to be using affiliate links though, so I guess it’s still possible.

Usually you don’t want to assign things in IF statements. Most of the time “if (a = b)” is intended to be “if (a == b)”, hence the need for the walrus operator.
