I drove just enough that 100% of my in-city miles would be covered by the solar charging of a 2024 Prius. But they're $50,000 and that's too goddamn much so I'll continue polluting with my twenty year old volkswagen

When I read about Itanium and iAPX 432, I can't help but think that Intel _isn't good at what they do_ and just lucked into he PC market by being cheap, and then riding to coattails of the Windows monopoly. I can't wait for A

Is it unusual though? I have several toy cameras with similar "overlapping circle" shutters, and a medium format Mamiya with a focal-plane leaf shutter where "the iris and the shutter are the same" practically speaking,

The hard part is the icons. Nobody does aliased bitmapped icons anymore. We should've made SVG icons the default, like the vector icons in IRIX. Then we could just tweak the renderer.

But DOS windows only updated at (IIRC) 10Hz, so while you could run four or five DOOMs, a single DOOM in a window would still be unplayable slow.

Peak UI happened with OS/2 Warp 3, but, yes. Everything went downhill after the Great Skeumorphic Rebellion of 2010. OS X 10.0 dug too greedily, and too deep.
