As other commenters mentioned, it is just too far away to do that. To give you a sense of scale, if you reduce Earth to the size of a basketball, low earth orbit (space station, starlink, etc) would be less than a quarter inch above the sur

Sure doesn't seem that way to me. Blue rocket flame is coming out, and the operators talk about "ignition" and percentage thrust and shut down (when all the icicles fly off).

There are many small and large companies with relatively small compute needs (small meaning the own a small datacenter or two). Lots of the code they are running is _extremely_ legacy, and it may or may not be in their risk tolerance to swi

Ask the average person not interested in aviation what the autopilot does in an airplane. They will tell you "automatic pilot. It flies the plane." Autopilot is technically correct, which is useless unless you are only selling it

I don't think the frequencies these satellite ISPs are using is conducive to directly interacting with a phone. The antenna/receiver unit for Starlink will be the size of a pizza box according to SpaceX. Physics limits how much yo

Here's some great visualizations of the orbits and an explanation of what it means that the orbits are optimized for the northern hemisphere. (This confused me at first since obviously any orbit has to go just as far south as it does n
