next steps: use an arduino nano with an HC-06 bluetooth dongle to remove that cable. Also, another step might be using an ESP8266 and make a webserver out of it (maybe some links to get you started here: http://embeddednodejs.com

thanks; still a bit confusing. but I get that a Von Neumann machine can be simulated with a Turing machine. So, the Turing machine is more fundamental. Still, let's say my instruction set is ADD, LOAD, STORE, where do these instruction

for non-computer scientists, but rather for engineers, how do Turing machines map to the stored-program computer that have instruction sets, stacks, RAM and ROM ?

really nice thoughts, esp. about teaching and discoveries "marvinminsky said [...] that the best way to teach programming was to start by showing people good code"

interesting reference list - this course seems to discuss specifically layers for cognitive systems. I think "society of mind" addressed more general concepts and ideas about cognition and semantics.

indeed, the AVR tools are nice for starters - I wrote some thoughts about those a while back on my blog: http://thinkingonthinking.com/an-arduino-sketch-from-scratch...

this is maybe interesting for embedded development too, I played a bit with a basic webserver for Arduino a while ago: https://github.com/mulderp/arduino_webserver - but libmicrohttpd might offer more convenience

that is a nice initiative! My main resources for open-source ARM programming were https://github.com/muccc/arm-workshop/tree/master/mvp and https://github.com/LimiFrog/LimiFrog-SW

the main reason I'd look into programming languages is because I feel some problems can't/shouldn't be solved with the same tools that created the problems. Problems that are currently not solved: Dealing with low-level

also, how would you add custom events to the tasks, e.g. process data from a "button", "slider", ...

is this something like dnode? I used dnode for RPC style programming between an Arduino and web server: https://github.com/embeddednodejs/ch_8_entering_the_cloud/bl... possibly your lib could make the setup nicer.

indeed, this looks interesting how to do stuff with an fpga, but for basic embedded projects, I think arduino can lead much easier to results. this project looks also hard to reproduce elsewhere.

thanks for sharing! understanding how to cross-compile is increasingly important for upcoming (cheap) embedded hardware. maybe related a blog post on compiling a sketch for Arduino: http://thinkingonthinking.com/an-arduino-s
