I am actually looking for an easy way to get started with new Arduino projects. Some kind of "npm run build; npm run upload"; for embedded code, and then focus on the host part

this is more of a spike towards https://www.npmjs.com/package/chrome-serialport - connecting the http module with long polling is not too difficult for reading. otherwise sockets are probably cleaner. for the asm.js ap

this requirement: "it also only need to work in Chrome – no IE testing necessary" sounds like they had a preference for AngularJS. I guess your eventEmitter solution was too advanced for that company.

good points. maybe it is more about datasheets, examples, demo's, kits, ... that suits to open sharing. Not for nothing TI is becoming a major open-source contributor. Same for Atmel via Arduino.

I think a nice approach to describe HW + visual systems is kind of patterns. Similar to what is done in this project to describe waveforms: http://wavedrom.com/

we had tons of discussions what Unit test framework should be used, and how much the code coverage should be. Then, whether and how to use mocks in Unit tests did not help to make better software IMHO - that is why I claimed that much fuzz

Hm.. as hardware becomes a commodity, I don't think that custom designs can beat the commodity price point. What would be helpful, more web/interactive kind of tools to make hardware better accessible. For example, simple power ca
