I agree we never had it in the first place, and that it ultimately doesn't add up to much. It seems like just a familiarity problem. If I'm diagnosing something at 2AM, I don't care whether my database queries were written wi

I think this one was especially bad because a massive corporation can't be arsed to do better. Like, Apple exaggerates a lot on their advertising, but at least there's some heart to it. (Coming from someone that doesn't like

Each other. Christmas is a holiday of the family, especially if you reject the consumerist overtones. It's — for me — a lovely week of spending time together, eating too much, and watching bad old movies. I really like everything about

That's the kind of lovely feeling I get out of an acid trip, but that doesn't translate as well into daily life. This view of the ego as the enemy, and Ego Death as the Enlightenment, doesn't get us anywhere other than fighti

Do you have an alternative, potentially one that's less centralised or private or in bed with three-letter agencies? I ask because my last infra was probed for vulnerabilities hundreds of times per day; putting Cloudflare in front with

Of course, but a trained military is achieved by proper incentives to have people enlist — willingly . I would make a terrible soldier, but I attended an info session laat year about how civilians can contribute their skills to the militar

I think the ‘warmth’ people attribute to older media has been shown to have to do with processing. Modern audio has been mastered for loudness, with the corresponding loss of details and instrument separation. Tape media suffers less from t

I wasn't complaining, I don't mind whichever feature an open-source freely-available project I use weekly wants to work on. I did suggest these features might have taken some effort, and opportunity cost dictates it wasn't sp

What are you suggesting? That without forced military service Russia will take over Germany? It's not impossible, but basic military service likely does little to thwart invasion by a powerful Russian army — powerful by your suggestion

If anything, it took time away from improving Calibre's UI and user-friendliness. I use it weekly, but by the gods, it's neither pretty nor friendly.

Not just useless but another fork that only confounds newcomers and users looking for help. We can be generally opposed to AI without making it a boogeyman.

I had looked into JSON Feed or WebSub as a layer on feeds. I'm not sure it's possible but the federated thingies like ActivityPub might also give the same result, especially since Ghost supports it natively in the dashboard.

Exactly, and a lot of people that don't like black coffee never had a solid experience: a cup full of aromatics — like tea — instead of just burnt, bitter, over-heated slurry.

Yeah, everything you've said makes good sense. At the end of the day RSS is just a decent protocol for these purposes, even if more modern alternatives exist. But I think these modern alternatives are better for your purposes.

Espresso is my soft spot given my origins, but a good drip on paper filters (to remove some oils and cholesterol) is akin to good tea, full of aromatics. I disagree with the temperature, for me a blonde roast calls for 72 degrees Celsius (1
