Reddit does have great communities, and can be useful even when you’re logged out. Making their website really crappy does mean I use it, like, 15 minutes a week , as opposed to 1h/day on Apollo. It’s indeed a positive.

I think you can just tap the tab bar to bring the controls back. Works for me on whatever iOS this is before “Lucas would be proud with this numbering” 26.

This sounds cool at first but I think I really want vetted, up-to-date, edge-case-covered community extensions. You know, like we already have without arTiFicIAl ‘inteligence’.

Folks SWOTing everything in life like hubris ain’t a thing… all tech needs to be more secure, even more so as the asymmetry of attack and defence grows wider.

Ahm… phones have as much memory as my laptop? Man, here was I thinking a Pixel 7 would make a good Graphene device.

Everything that didn’t turn out exactly like some people wanted is useless or the Worst Thing Ever — which is a boring and cringe rule of the internet.

Reddit might be worse, actually, given their app is mediocre at best and they killed 3rd-party apps.

M1 Air 16GB, and macOS Sonoma is definitely starting to weigh down on the hardware. I used to have Netflix, Civ 5, and a Simulator running with no visible slowdown. Nowadays Safari + Simulator is enough to make everything less snappy; and I

The man has repeatedly invested in shady, unethical businesses. We don’t have to make a debate out of why , since plenty of rich and/or powerful people DON’T do those things. My (over-simplified) conclusion is that he’s not a decent p

To be fair to GP, they didn’t complain the model isn’t from the US. A “stealth” American model should be treated with the same suspicion, I think. The base of the argument isn’t affected by country of origin.

I don’t think it would become ‘unusable’… but the concentration of power in tech continues to be worrying. They had no true reason to sell beyond greed?

Kurzgesagt has proposed Nihilistic Optimism as a tongue-in-cheek but grounded way to look at it. ( https://www.asktherightquestion.org/the-philosophy-of-kurzge... ) I’m more or less a practicing Stoic and non-believer. Life n

I’ve a codebase filled with references to §x.y section of documentation that Claude itself prepares and never updates; which is exactly what many devs would do, I guess, joke’s on us.

I wish bicycle shop workers all the best, but man, they really don’t want to have your business… Everything is sold out, all maintenance is expensive, and there’s never any helpful way to do anything.

I don’t think they are: > One need look no further than Reddit to find evidence of brewing discontent, though other posters on the site are not in agreement. It’s a post about some Reddit comments, a nothing-burger.

Portugal almost made some fisheries extinct, we had to severely curtain fishing and still sardines would show up in the markets. I think fishermen notice, but they’re also incentivised to continue fishing because the price starts going up?

Should the title be “knuckle cracking is mostly benign” because journalism shouldn’t bury the lead? More at ten. In other news, media outlets continue to struggle with readership, should they stop debasing the profession?

Friction-free is a big ask. Brave tried something a while back with their Brave Payments, but of course no one trusts them and it’s not going anywhere.

I suppose the cost of hardware, network usage, and electricity is still under 0.05? I mean, we know the unit economics for LLMs don't make a ton of sense, except if enterprise customers really are what keeps the lights on.

I don’t disagree with you at all, but it’s not like we didn’t have alternatives. We could’ve just paid for the content, directly subsidising the creators we like.

I would argue that the most wastage is in how people embark and disembark. During Covid I flew a few times back home and they did line-by-line from the middle through both doors, and that was quite good and efficient.
