I read that ground penetrating radar only really works well if it is really close to the ground. It also only gets a thin slice of the ground so you need a rover that can move in order to image a volume.

It has a ground penetrating radar to see stuff 100 m below the ground, something that no other Mars rover has done before. I think that's pretty cool!

Why is "JWT" not defined or explained until I scroll a few pages down and find one that's hyperlinked? I thought it was talking about the James Webb Telescope this whole time.

You could make things hard mode for yourself by shooting manual lenses. There are some amazing manual lenses for Sony such as the Voigtlander ones. I personally found it quite fun to shoot digital with modern manual lenses --- the image qua

Yes!!! Finally --- it is about time that someone made a modern alternative to isc.ro which is full of security problems (e.g. passwords stored in plaintext; your rack is randomly generated on the clientside) and looks ugly.

APS-C sensors are maybe only a few hundred bucks. I would love to have a nice APS-C or full frame board-level camera that can be easily integrated into something like a Raspberry Pi. At present it is nearly impossible to get something like

It is interesting that for scientific units it contradicts the SI brochure. For example The Economist recommends no space between the number and the unit (eg, 11kg) but the SI does.

I would be fine with people not caring about Asians if at the same time they didn't watch so much Asian porn. I would also be fine if people watched a lot of Asian porn if at the same time they cared about Asian culture and history. Bu

What? Searching for "foo" had no porn results. "German" only had two porn results out of the top 50. "Asian" was almost all porn. I did all three searches with the same logged-in user with "show NSFW"

The fact that Reddit's search algorithms and Apple's filters find a strong correlation between Asians and porn suggests that to be the case. The 100x was just a rhetorical example.

There was no "nsfw:yes" in the search box. It was literally just "asian". I am using the search feature on the new reddit design on web: https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=asian&type=sr%2Cuser Oth

Yes, the algorithm is definitely inappropriate and too basic. However let's not overlook that it is a societal problem that a large amount of the US population does not care about Asians at all apart from porn. When there is 100x more

The fact that machine learning or statistical methods find that the word "asian" is so highly correlated with porn that it is basically synonymous enough to be blocked is a problem.

The fetishization of Asian women is insane. If you search for "asian" on Reddit, the vast majority of results are porn subreddits.

The ones for sale are the small perimeter lidars that have very short range, not the 300 m unit.

If the laser passes through some semitransparent things like glass, rain, and perhaps a fine wire mesh, multiple returns would give you the range measurements for each of the things that the beam passes through.

The Ouster OS0 and Hesai PandarQT are generally much better choices since they... * match the field of view of the Laser Bear Honeycomb (OS0: 360 x 90 deg; PandarQT: 360 x 104 deg; Waymo: 360 x 95 deg) * produce 10x as many points per secon
